I've spent the last couple of hours on youtube, trying to find the perfect Memorial Day video..spent much of it teary eyed, tissue in hand. There's a lot of good stuff out there. I finally found one that says it just right. I was just going to post it, but I've been so moved by everything I've seen today I want to direct you there...see the link below.
I sit here today because my Grandfathers and Uncles fought in every war fought by the USA, starting with the Revolution. I cannot deny no matter how much I hate this war we're in, I still and will always support our troops, 100%. I've filled care-packages, written letters, sent postcards, not because I like the war, but because I love our troops and I appreciate the sacrifices they make. We aren't another British colony because of our troops. We speak English instead of German or Japanese because of our troops. I think we have the best damn military in the world, and we should thank them every day.
Tomorrow is not about politics. Tomorrow is about our troops. I want to say Thank You to each and everyone of you who has served or is serving our country, and thank you to your families giving so much of yourselves so they can protect us all. Tomorrow I will be thinking about my Uncle who fought in Vietnam, my great Uncle who died over Germany and another Great Uncle who was in Pearl Harbor when it was attacked in WWII, and all the men and women who have fallen in past wars and in the current conflict and I will say a prayer for each of them.
