Yep, it's suppose to be the week of my vacation and guess what? If the weather men are correct it looks as if we might have rain all week... But I have been trying to find some bright sides to it. The creek bed is rushing with water, so that's pretty cool. (When I bought the place I was told it always has water and it did at the time but I haven't seen it a whole lot until now). The ground has gotten soft enough I could get out the T-post (still needed the pullers though) some tough ground around here!!
In between the rain pours, I have walked the new horse around some. He comes to his name now, walks well being led and lets me run the lead rope all around his face and back - quite an improvement for Beau!!
The rescued mare is just awful (I mean that in a good way). When I bend down to work on the fence she is sniffing and rubbing down my back, I stand up and I get those fantastic horse hugs. She loves kisses on the nose and leaning against me with her weight. Just can't get close enough. Pretty soon Beau may be as spoiled as Jasmine. (Yes we named her Jasmine - I have to admit the grandkids had were a deciding factor in that)
Now Samson, the once-beautiful white shepherd is more brown because he has discovered the joy of rolling in the mud and puddles - guess who won't be sleeping inside til he gets a good bath?! They usually prefer sleeping outside anyway in front of the door where they can guard I guess. That way they can walk the property like some sort of security guards... They like coming in for periods of time but I guess night fall usually represents time to be on the alert or something!!
I am getting a fair amount of writing done and will do some on and off fence building as weather permits - really want to get some fishing done though!! I'm not too use to indoors so going a little stir crazy but I think I will survive
Hope everyone out there had a good holiday and that you all have a great week!
