Tao De Ching Chapter 2: When people see some things as beautiful, other things become ugly. When people see some things as good, other things become bad.
Being and non-being create each other. Difficult and easy support each other. Long and short define each other. High and low depend on each other. Before and after follow each other.
Therefore, the Master acts without doing anything, and teaches without saying anything. Things arise and she lets them come; Things disappear and she let them go. She has but does not possess; acts but does not expect. When her work is done, she forgets it. That is why it lasts forever. If you like the teaching, think about this. Someone wrote them thousands of years ago! If you don’t like them, remember that it was written by someone who has been dead for thousands of years. Different people view the verses differently. Same people at different time points interpret the same verse differently. I will be delighted hear to your insights on these verses, especially the last paragraph.
In the event that you are not familiar with Tao De Ching, "Master" here is the Tao. It is often interpreted as "The way of life".
