I have heard people say all my life that they wished they had taken better care of their teeth . I thought to myself I am taken pretty good care of mine so I should still have mine when I am old. I guess that genetics plays more of a role than I thought. I was eating yesterday and suddenly had a grit in my soft food. A side piece of bottom tooth had broken off. It is a tooth that you don't see when I smile, but my tongue rests there and every time I talk it cuts my tongue. I was in pain and had no idea what to do until I could get to the dentist tomorrow. Then it came to me, chewing gum. I took one piece of skittles chewing gum and chewed it enough to get the coating off and soften it and then put it over the tooth on the side facing my tongue and covered the rough part up. I didn't think it would hold long. If you have ever tried skittles gum you know what I am talking about. Skittles gums gets much to soft and feels like it is close to dissolving unlike other chewing gum. The stuff melted just enough so that it covered the tooth very well to my relief. It covered it so well that not only did I not cut my tongue any more but I made it through the night and didn't swallow the stupid gum. Now I am wondering, where did the idea to fill a bad tooth came from in the first place?
PS: Well, no pun intended, I have two really big trucks in my front yard and tomorrow they will start the digging of the well. They would have started and finished today but the well they were working on yesterday turned out to be quicksand so they had to finish that well first. Guess jinx monster can read after all.

You can go to the drug store...there are temporary "fillings" you can purchase. I don't know the name of the brands but I have seen them in several different stores. Try Walgreen's or Wal-Mart.

they also sell dental wax... it's mainly to give comfort to ppl w/ braces, but it works on a chipped tooth as well. Good job improvising!

For a more permanent approach, get yourself to the nearest black topped parking lot, and hack yourself off a piece. Melt it in the micro wave, then slap it over the cavity. Sure it's going to sting a little bit, and probably the oil-based sealant isn't going to be all that good for your system, but what girl doesn't look good with a black tooth? Isn't that worth all the downside?
