The lemonade fast is over. I did not make it to 40 days. After my challenging 14th day, I had a simply fantastic 15th day. I did my 5th day in a row of Bikram yoga and felt stronger and did better than any previous day. I also got a lot done during the day and was very consistent in drinking my lemonade and eliminating.
Then the next day I felt sick. In retrospect, that was probably to be expected -- a sign that there was really cleansing and detoxification going on. I stayed at home an in bed most of the day and in the evening, I could not stand it any longer and I made some ramen noodles and put soy sauce (no msg) on them. I did not use the flavor packet with the noodles, as it contained msg.
The next day, I felt bad that I had succombed and had broken my fast, but I decided it was not a terribly serious infraction and that I would continue the cleanse. I failed to fix much lemonade throughout the day though and was hungry when I went out to a play in the evening.
It was a really lousy play and during intermission I began thinking of the food at a restaurant nearby -- really fresh food in a latin style, not Mexican. Just before the lghts went down, we left and went to eat. I only ate about half my salad and grilled veggies and took the rest home to eat the following day.
On Sunday evening, I was feeling a need for comfort food and fixed mself a huge bowl of macaroni and cheese. I made some more and devoured it yesterday -- though I put a generous helping of flaxseed meal on top. Yes, my digestive system hurts a bit after all that dairy...
I have been reading about raw food for some time and am strongly considering giving that a good shot for a time. I also need to get back to yoga, but as yet have not been able to make myself go.
I am trying not to be disappointed with myself for not going the forty days. Fasting for 16 is actually quite remarkable. Over the course of the fast, I lost about 10 lb and I have not regained any as of this morning. Weight loss was not my objective for the fast, but is a nice bonus. I am now within 7 lbs of the weight I consider my "ideal" -- a weight I have not seen in more than a decade. I may try again going for 40 days sometime in the future. Thanks to all who offered encouragement and support.

Tough stuff, not eating. But you've still done your body good by going that long so don't be too hard on your Self.
Have you ever done juicing? A juice fast once a week is a great thing if you can muster the discipline. Or just become like me and forget to eat....
Kudos for sharing your journey.

I think that's great Lacy for going as long as you did with the fast. Any break for your digestive system is a good deal for your overall health.
Heck the only way I was able to stop eating lately was due to a 3 day migraine. That will jump start any fasting (unfortunately in a painful way.... :P )
Glad to read that you're in better spirits lately....
Cheyenne had her checkup yesterday, and will be back at the Vet July 11th to remove a small growth (to be on the safe side of things). She's happy and playful as ever.
You're in my thoughts!
