How do the powers above on MD choose the most Popular Blogs? Someone keeps showing up on the list with a couple of comments, actually yesterday he/she had zero comments! Today here he/she is again with one comment! Hummmm?

I tried to figure it out as far as the amount of comments, the kudos, the amount of views, plus you'd have figure in how long it's sat since anyone viewed or commented. The sad part is. That even being in the #2 slot with one of her blogs. It's nothing more then yellow journalism! So if that's what makes a popular blog that's truly sad. When the poster of the blog deletes non offensive comments, just so her side can be shown, its pitiful! But hey, To each his own right, If you're only hearing one side of a story, you aren't hearing nothing at all

sometimes the fickle finger of fate will allow someone who really shouldn't be in the spotlight, in the spotlight. for the person whom you are talking about, i wouldn't worry too much. maybe her blatant tactics to twist facts to suit herself means more to her than anyone or anything else.
maybe she needs a life.
i think though, your cat and men blog is far more interesting and fun than hers.

Its all about advertising.,the powers that be here are trying to make a living.,so they put on the first page what they think will help sell space.,Also if you were paying for space here, you would most likely check in here to see how its going,to see pretty pics and interesting blogs on the cover would meet your/my/our approval of the money spent.when people log on for the first time,they see the pop blog square and join,maybe?
the blog that doctor bone had here last night would not make front page as it would turn people off to the site,i think you would agree to that.,lol.,
So when I wonder why MD does what it does,I now think about money/selling first and it usually holds true.,.,it is called curb appeal for selling real estate,big window displays in malls.,.,all about selling.,
I did get a kick out of seeing my birdy blog there for awhile 
I like cats too by the way

The downside of this blog, is that nearly everyone that reads this, will most likely view the others, making them more"popular" To me, if I get a few good comments on a blog,or I've made someone laugh, that means more to me then having an arguement hit the big time! I'm not here to argue, Some people thrive on it!

Well....I write, generally well written pieces that either bring about a great laugh or stimulates the brain into actually thinking about a topic. I really don't care if I make most popular...most read....most commented on....I reach who I reach and that's all that matters to me.....
I don't sport a flashy pic...I don't pay for my space here....I don't buy into saying "all the right things" just because it's what everybody wants to hear. I am, who I am. Will never change that and will not reconstruct my writing to "fit in" with the "in crowd"......
I shall always allow ALL comments...good, bad or indifferent....cause you see...opinions are like ass holes....everybodys' got one.....

what I meant by paying for space here is advertising space.,not the 6 dollars a month stuff,that is chicken feed to MD.,
remember the russian guy in a wedding dress awhile ago?.,there was a pop blog about it by cynbaby,it made front page for a long time.,if you were buying space to sell your russian dating service you would be estatic about the coverage you got.,big bang for your bucks on that one.,

I think you are absolutely right Muppet it is all about the Holly Dollar.
I used to be a paying member when this site first got off the ground, now I am not and get just as much pleasure from it.
I have made many friends and love to get up on a weekend morning and turn on my computer and post my weekly blog .... sometimes I get mad at myself when I don't have anything to say . . . it just isn't like me ha ha, BUT I think it is silly to just say "Hey folks what's happening?" to just have a blog out there. Blogging does get addictive though.

It doesn't always take an argument to make it to the most popular blogs...the one I wrote when I quit smoking was there for a couple of days
I've wondered tho, about how some stay and stay and stay without getting any more comments There's one on the front page that was written two months ago

all i know is that "popular blogs" has nothing to do with the subject matter or content. it's strictly automatic, a math thing (software program). i keep hearing reference to "algorithms", whatever those are. no human intervention is involved, lol, just tech tricks
