I like to ask those questions that are on everyone's mind, but most are afraid to ask! lol So, this is a humorous observation only! In checking out someone's profile, everyone has their own approach, usually we saw their picture, and that's what led us there. So now some of us go to see all the pics, some read what they have to say first, then check out the various details that they have shared. At some point we get around to the weight & body type part! This is where it can get very confusing! Usually the designations like slim/slender, bbw, and full figured are pretty well understood, at least in the U.S., but I've seen people outside of this country that don't understand the designations, put down 5' 6' 120 lbs. "Full Figured." It's okay, I do understand the cultural differences, but it's really the one that is so vague that intrigues me! How do you determine if you're average? Is this a sliding scale on a universal level, does it just involve the people in your area, your close friends, or maybe your family? Okay now let's see Bubba weighs 398 lbs, big Roy weighs 425, and I weigh 405, so that makes me average! I've seen numerous profiles all within an inch or so in height, but with differences in weight varying as much as 100 lbs and they all say their designation is average! I know that somewhere out there some group of highbrow physicist have determined this designation of "average" after years of research with white mice, or maybe one of their underlings wrote it all up while they were at a martini conference? All in all, I prefer the numbers!

it's the "they" who decide what average is... "THEY say that average is blah, blah, blah" "THEY say that global warming is happening" "THEY say that over 40% of our nation is overweight." I want to be part of THEY so I can say "WE say blah blah blah"...
as far as the numbers are concerned.. 150 looks totally different on a woman of 5'3" as opposed to 5' 8" so numbers can be misleading as well.

I guess that (average) depends on where you live in this crazy world.

I recently saw this on another forum.
Size 0-4 thin Size 6 borderline thin/medium Size 8-10 Medium Size 12 borderline medium/somewhat overweight size 14-16 somewhat overweight but not obese size 18 borderline BBW size 20+ BBW
A woman friend of mine works in a retail store. This is the general size chart of the store that she works in. There are some exceptions to this such as very tall women, women with a athletic build or women with large breasts.

REAL WORLD Sizes
Size 0-4 Skeletal - Anorexic - eat something Size 6 Very Thin - eat a sandwich Size 8-10 Thin - some are naturally Size 12 Average - healthy size 14-16 Above average and still healthy size 18 Above average but what most people are at and still healthy size 20 Over wieght but healthy size 22+ BBW
I'm 5' 10" and at 155 lbs at my athletic peak and musculatur I could bench press most guys, run 9 miles a day and kick serious butt on the court. I still wore anything from a 12-18 at any given time because I was a real woman with boobs and a butt. My waist was still smaller than most girls half my size. The funny thing is? I wouldn't give this BBW body up for the mindset of the thinner me. I was miserable. NOW I'm confident, happy and living life more.
I think the clothing industry promotes eating disorders and unhealthy living. A person should not be judged by there wieght but how they carry it.

I am neither average or normal - if I were average, I could be just about any one. I am me; different, unusual and unique. I am not normal - I am not boring; there fore I am not boring. I am stimulating; exceptional; exuberant; and whackie - I am me - not ordinary in the least. Does that help?

Since my stage name contains "Slim" ( ala my first sit in with Bonnie Raitt) I am doomed to always staying Slim! I did that BMI thing and it said I'm normal, but I'm not, I'm a musician!

spyder - good chart ! Except size 5 should be included with thin. Also this doesn't take into account height.
the BMI can't be good for both men & women. Muscle weighs more than fat. I'm 5'7" & 165#, fairly muscular, without an ounce of fat on my body and that thing says I'm overweight.

I think that if you really like someone, it won't matter if they are chubby, skinny, obese, whatever. ...I like to say I am just me. Baby got back

You can not go by dress sizes. The more expensive the clothes the smaller the size you wear. The cheaper the clothes the larger the size you wear. Those expensive clothes manufacturers are not stupid. Women will buy the more expensive clothes just to wear a smaller size. Big breast also play a big part in the size a person wears. You can not get the big boobs in a small size. I do not buy dresses. I have to buy two piece outfits. One size for the top and another smaller size for the bottom. Damn boobs.
