Let me explain to you a little something of the trials and travails of the housewife of the forest and tundra aka: the Alpha Female.
The Alpha Female stands out from the crowd, not so much for her outer beauty although that can help at times, but for her inward strength and leadership abilities. She is the wolf to know in times of crisis, the only person above her in rank being, of course, the Alpha Male.
In the case of the Alpha Female, there can be only one and that one is set aside, something removed from the ordinary female and, as is the way of females in power, tended to be looked on more as unnatural and frightening to the other females than as reassuring or as a goal for which to strive.
Males are more apt to break off from the pack and become loners or even to start their own pack, you see, if they don't like the pecking order. Or would that be the biting order? Whereas females, for obvious reasons of giving childbirth, need the protection of the pack more and are less likely to leave it regardless of circumstances or position.
I have seen people studying the Alpha Wolf, both male and female, and applying human government standards to their roles. From that viewpoint, it would seem the Alpha Female is in the most secure position that a female wolf could be in. She has the ultimate protection of the pack including the Alpha Male, more than any other of the females in that pack. Right?
Not necessarily so!
The norm for a wolf pack is that the Alpha female has priority in child birth, child rearing, food sharing etc. because of being the marvelous creature that she was born to be. There is always growling and arguing from those less gifted but it doesn't amount to much and life runs fairly smooth for the whole pack.
But, sometimes, what happens is that one or two females are born who are fairly close to being capable of being an Alpha Female or who, perhaps, if they would leave and form their own pack could be the Alpha Female outright and be wonderful in that position. However, they do not leave because it is not in their nature to form packs. It is in their nature to be with the Alpha Male, who, under these conditions has already chosen his mate.
The Alpha Male, experiencing this sort of rebellious nature in another male, might simply beat him down or drive him from camp. So too might the Alpha Female do the same to the other female.
Herein lies the difference fundamental between male and female and wherein starts the thread of the wolfish personality that is a direct crossover to Man, for in this way all females when encountering rival femals act much the same:
The Alpha Female seems secure in her position and yet her position is only as the top female, which means the Alpha Male still has more input into her decisions and actions then vice versa.
The Alpha Female-wanna be's very rarely will attack the Alpha Female directly. Instead, they will sneak around behind her back and spread dissent amongst the other females in the pack. They will attack her young, if they can do so without fear of getting caught. And they will snarl, bark, whine, pee in strange places, and generally act so badly that the males are uncomfortable and the Alpha Male, especially, is tired of the discord in the pack.
When there is justice, the most offending females are killed or driven out. When the Alpha Male has been lacking in attentiveness, however, sometimes the thing goes on for so long that by the time he is aware of the extent of the discord, the pack has turned against his mate and so it is, even though she did nothing but what she was born to do, she will be seen as the greatest offender and the cause of the discord and she will be killed or driven out instead.
Because, often, way too often, the goal of the males is not to seek justice but to seek comfortable surroundings. Females know this and that is why they will lie, cheat, steal, attack, and commit their subtle acts of subterfuge amongst the pack until finally the males join in on the grumbling and the Alpha Male is forced to hurt the female who is his mate, the closest to his equal, simply to stop the bitches from whining and barking in his ear all day.
And that, as well as being the truth of the position of the Alpha Female within a wolf pack, is also the truth of any human female who is dominant of personality. It doesn't matter if she even tries to take that position. The women smell it on her and the bitches proceed to snap and bark at their men, and spread lies about her, until she is driven away and they can install someone more malleable, more on their level, as his new mate.

Uh huh...more "truths" there than many would prefer to see...lol...I particularly relate with the statement about the males preferring "comfortable surroundings", however, not out of any lack of interest in "justice", but rather, simply out of a desire for "quiet"...whatever the cost...lol...let the "bitches battle", I'll just wander off and go "hunting" elsewhere.
