ever hear the saying, "Can't we all just get along"?

seems this is a popular mindset as of late in the world

fact is ... is that many people in this world think americans are arrogant and stupid
-
arrogant in thinking that you are safe ... that you can go anywhere and do anything ... that you can bully yourself around ... that you can take opposite positions and have it make sense or make friends
-
stupid because you think if we just talk to someone - a person, a country, that everything will be ok
-
you obviously haven't been overseas, especially to the med or asia
-
to them YOU ARE NOTHING but an arrogant irrelavent fool ... no wonder everybody hates us
-
you got bombs ... so what, you won't use them ... besides there are enough of you scattered about that one slight move and you will be calling mercy
-
just a little hint for those of you that think everything is going to be ok ... grow up, history is repeating itself AGAIN ... and no matter how many times people come to warn you every 3 or 400 years ... you never listen ... short term memory is going to get us

I wish we could all get along but some just dont want it to happen. Some want us to convert to there way of life and if we dont convert they want to kill us. Im sorry but im not converting. Its weird to me that the people that seem to be saying cant we all get along are the ones that should maybe fear for there lives the most(Libs).

Other peoples may regard Americans as arrogant or stupid, because they see and judge some of the American actions in the world, as well as what the American leader(s) say. (Hey, I'm not taking a position here myself, do NOT shoot! I just read some of the foreigh press...)
The problem is as always GENERALIZATION.
Another problem is that most foreign people have never actually BEEN to the USA. All they know is the US wars in foreign countries and US world market policies, to which they don't subscribe.
BUT.... they don't know the American people. I was lucky enough to be able to immigrate into this country. And I was and still am lucky to experience the friendliness, kind-heartedness and generosity of the Americans.
Even though I lived in an European country (as opposed to a Muslim country for example), I had no clue how nice the "regular" American men and women are. Now I know and I tell my European friends and family about it.
The bottom line is: never generalize! amd always try to really know what you are talking about.

somewhat true ... but remember that america is a "melting pot" and so hundreds of thousands of people here know someone somewhere else

very nice travel woman! Welcome and yes there is much good here. Glad you found good people here too. As you can see there is a diversity, but the USA gives us that freedom which we are all grateful for.

Look, if you read these blogs, Americans cannot get along with each other in the US - look at all the blame, hatred, know-it-all attitudes people are spewing - the women hate men - they find a good man and then keep raising the bar to mentally destroy any man in their vicinity - belittle each other. So...Americans get along outside our own country??? Shoot - We need to get our own house in order first - get rid of KKK, Neo-Nazis, gangs, students shooting each other. Even ignorant asses on this site that sit around blaming everybody else, every man being blamed - oh but they know it all already, so they change? Oh no!! Not going to happen - the world must change for them. WAKE UP PEOPLE! IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!! Clean out your own house before casting stones - take the time to learn from people - learn humility and graciousness as well as manners and respecting yourselves and others...MAYBE THEN AND ONLY THEN can this country be accepted anywhere. Too many people know rudeness, hatred, bitterness, jealousy, envy and arrogance long before love, honesty, friendship, and friendliness.

I was in the military and I've pretty much lived all over the planet and travelled the thing from top to bottom and left to right. I wasn't born in this country either. Granted that different cultures have different perceptions and views about other cultures, but what I have found is that most peoples values are really no different than the values we hold. They want a better life for themselves and their families, too. I got that by talking to people one on on. The "us versus them" is out of our reach. I'm not out making foreign policy decisions. I cannot sterotype individuals simply by culture, ethnicity or religious views as I hope they would not of me.

spare - here is what I say to the foreign countries that call us arrogant and imperialist - Fine - we will stop sending aid and money and will no longer provide military protection!
Few remember the earthquake that struck in IRAN in 2003 - 15,000 people died. Quite devastating. The USA sent hundreds of millions in aid - troops and equipment.
I guess that is arrogant.
Below is a list of the things Iran did to help us after Katrina hit.

In my opinion this is a myth fabricated by the media. If this were the case why are they floating on rafts in shark infested waters to get here, crossing borders knowingly breaking the law to get here and applying for visa's on a record pace.
It's tough being number one folks. Most like taking a swipe at Super Power and live to tell about it but just under the skin where the truth is, most love us and envy us.
Are we bully's at times, absolutely and we should be. A little bullying is a good thing. Watch what happens to Iran from some good old - fashion American bullying 
People crack me up, think the world is a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop. If we don't bully country's such as North Korea, Iran, Syria, Russia, China, etc. who's going to do it? France Do you think the people who live in Iran, North Korea, etc. would rather live there then here. Live under there rule then ours. Being an American is a great and rare privelage that we take for granted. Wake up and smell the coffee folks.
All get along? you know when were all going to get along, never. Won't even happen when hell freezes over. Were not designed to all get along. Were designed
to identify the common good and move towards that. Something were losing sight of.
