A friend asked me to write this so here I sit trying to gather my thoughts into something coherent and heartfelt. He wanted to know what it was that I wanted out of life or from - my life. My hopes and dreams. It’s funny I would have to actually think about that – shouldn’t it be something I already know? How many of us really stop to think about what we really want and truly desire out of this life of ours? I don’t think it’s so much that I don’t know the answers – it’s that its hard to actually put it into words. I don’t have grand dreams of riches or fame or a fabulous job. What I actually dream of and hope for is very simple.

I know that a lot of folks on this site are here hoping to find “the one”. Anyone who has seen my profile will notice that it says I am here for friendship. I still hope to find that “one” someday, whether it is here or elsewhere but friendship IS the main reason I am still here. I have made some very dear, close friends on this site – you all know who you are – some, who I have never met and probably never will due to distance or other reasons, some, who I hope to meet in the near future and ones I already have met. What does that have to do with the subject of my hopes and dreams you ask? Abraham Lincoln said “The better part of one's life consists of his friendships." Therefore, the answer to that question is, very simply, that I want and hope to continue to develop, to deepen and to enrich the friendships I have made on this site and off. To share the hopes and dreams of my life with those friends as I hope they will share theirs with me. To celebrate and rejoice with them in their lives as well as brighten each other’s dark times.

As a parent and grandparent, I also want what most parents and grandparents want for their families. I want to be there for them for whatever they need and to be able to share in their lives also. I dream of being able to see my grandchildren grow up happy, healthy, and happily married with children of their own. I hope to see my ninth grandchild (yes, you read it right NINTH ), who is due in January, join the melee of the other eight during all the holidays and get–together’s to come. I dream of seeing my son, who has worked so hard and sacrificed so much and has already gotten his Associates degree, be able to complete his quest for his Bachelors degree and perhaps a Master’s. I dream of seeing all nine of those grandchildren follow his example and do what it takes to achieve what they want in life.

I do dream of finding the “one” I spoke of earlier. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life alone when I have so much to give. When laughter, love, friendship and most things in this life are so much the sweeter for being shared. I dream of having someone to care for me as I do them – deeply, strongly, faithfully and freely. I dream of sharing all those warm, gleeful, madhouse moments with family that remain forever in the mind as the “best times”. I dream of sharing the small, simple, everyday moments that build closeness in a relationship. The nights spent talking til dawn just because you still have so much to say to each other that build deep, true intimacy in a relationship. Of sharing the hard times, that always come at some point, but that also build strength, comfort, trust and faith. I dream of sharing the loving, lovemaking, cherished, sweet times that build a different kind of intimacy in a relationship. I dream of a small house to share ALL of those moments in.

Those are my hopes and dreams……… what are yours ??
