As I was walking into the Library just now I got to the door at the same time as another student. Since I was on the right side, the side the door opens to, I held open the door and said, "Go ahead." But since it was a guy he could not let that happen... I had to go first or neither of us was getting in any time soon. I know that's the polite thing that he did but it just makes me laugh because he could have just gone and kept the flow going without a flaw. It really wouldn't have hurt anyone. But thank you Mr. Nice Guy. You rock. Another incident relevant to the one above happened yesterday on the bus. Julia and I were on our way to campus and sat in one of the side-facing seats for 3 people. A fellow sat next to Julia completing the trio intended for the seat. But when the seats were all filled on the bus and another girl entered (she would have to stand, see?), the fellow next to Julia got up and let her sit there by us. Really this doesn't sound like much but I ride the bus daily and I must say it doesn't happen all that often. And that's okay. But when it does happen it's noticeable. So, once again, thank you Mr. Nice Guy.

Mr. Nice Guy - Each Of Them - Was Right... Manners have been going by the wayside for a long time now... When I was in college, as I was leaving My dorm, I heard footsteps behind Me... To this day, I hold the door for anyone - Man, Woman or Child... So, I held the door for the yet uknown person walking up behind Me... It was an attractive Your woman.. I smiled at Her as I held the door... She stopped in Her tracks and shouted at Me, "I can open the door Myself, God Damn It!!! I said, "Fine!" and purposely slammed the door right in front of Her... She pushed the door open and said to Me, "You must be the most repulsive person I have ever met." I said, "Well, That makes two of Us." I have never forgotten My rudeness, Or Hers... So, I hope the next time You run into a "Mr. Nice Guy" You simply appreciate it, maybe even thank them for their kindness... It will lead to years of pleasant memories - rather than unpleasant ones...

I never ride a bus around here. There are not any. In Paris, the men will knock a woman down to get to a seat on the subway. I have never seen a man on the Paris subway give his seat to a woman, except my brother who was with me on the subway as we always go to Paris together.
Here men always hold a door open for a lady.
