I just read that when we "change" time, a person is 3 times more likely to be hit walking from work, than before the time was changed and that when we spring forward in the spring, they're 3 times more likely to be hit in the morning walking to work... wouldn't we be smarter if we just left time alone?

You know..I always thought.. is it possible that what you did that hour you had to trun back..ment nothing? Like..I donno. If you did your school work..an cooked..or broke somthing special and said heart-filled things to your lover. Then you changed back time..that the begining of that hour.. would everything be erased..or matter..NOT?

I wish the heck they would leave it alone!! Takes me flippin 2 weeks to recover from this fall one especially. Would it not make more sense for those that have to have it different to change the hours of operation? lol...... well, maybe not?

It makes sense since you're more likely to be walking in the dark during those times after the time changes. Coincidentally I did almost hit some poor guy walking across the driveway leaving work today. Luckily I saw him in time, but it was dark....
I think we should do away with it altogether, it just messes everything up.

I like the extra sunshine in the morning, for as long as it will last... But other than that it is out-dated.

I don't recover from "fall back" until after Christmas when the days start to get longer again. Love the month of June with the long days.

I guess it's done in order to save energy. I know my baby doesn't care one bit that the time has changed, she was awake at 5am ready to play this morning!

As I understand it, Daylight Savings Time was originally instituted as an energy-saving system during the First World War, and later caught on bigtime throughout most of the industrialised world. Standard Time is what's in effect from now until Spring...if we didn't change over to Daylight Saving Time come Spring, then for those of us in the Northern US and Canada, Summer sunrises would come as early as 3:30 to 4:00 AM, and sunsets would come as early as 7:30 to 8:00 PM, depending on how far North you happen to live.
Of course we could always stick with Daylight Savings Time on a year 'round basis, but it didn't work that well the last time it was tried, way back during the big "energy crisis" caused by an OPEC oil embargo against the US in the early 70s...kids were going to school and coming home again in the dark, and car accidents were up across the board, too.
Basically, the "Powers That Be," have decided that "Spring Ahead, Fall Back," is actually "for our own good," rather than a good recipe for hurting yourself, which is exactly what it sounds like to me! You can grumble all you like, but I doubt it's going to change anytime soon...the Big Bosses want it, and what they want goes!
Just my .02's worth, sincerely, "Mac"

The time change always throws my internal clock off, so I end up waking an hour earlier and it wil take a bit before I can adjust. I wonder from economic perspective, how much this stumble costs us. I wonder if it is a plus or negative....to me it seems changing the time twice a year has gone to be sort of expensive an over all effect across the nation from an efficiency stand point.

The day light savings time change thing doesn't sit well we me or the dogs. Right on Q they started bugging me an hour early to feed them. They know what time it is. I've been going to bed earlier and subsequently waking up earlier. This morning I couldn't sleep and was up at 5. It was still pitch dark out when I let the dogs out to do their thing. It was one of those "astronomer's dream" type of clear skies that only happen in a desert environment. You know, you can see about a billion billion stars. There just above the tree tops over the East horizon was a particularly bright (star) that I recognized as my old friend Jupiter. I went back inside for my binoculars and sure enough, there were the moons in orbit confirming my observation. So that's where you have been hiding, in the early morning. What a pleasant surprise to find an old friend and great way to start the day.

Interesting, it's seems inconvenient but at least the kids don't go to school in pitch black. Which I understood was the real reason it happens. I wonder just how anyone knows who would have and would not have been hit going to and from work. Strange, I am in research and it sounds like a very difficult thing to verify! Time is relative anyway!

completely agree
it is another sign that proves that when the government tries to make something better, they do the opposite
the government can't solve the problem because the goverment is the problem
