This will be a series on my very own descent into madness. It will be told as I lived it. If you have questions regarding anything you see here, I will answer them as best I can. Enjoy it or hate it, I don't care. This is what happened...
As Ken stared at the clock, he could almost hear the seconds tick away. The bus would be here soon. Every last cent he had was spent on getting back to Ohio. But what would he do once he got there?
Ken had already given up his job when he moved to Arizona. He was flat broke, with no place to live, and no real plan for the future. Not exactly what he envisioned when he set out to live with his fiance. Part of him felt like he deserved this for being so naive. Happiness just wasn't in the cards. Not now, not ever. He was foolish for thinking otherwise. How could he have been so stupid to give up everything for a woman?
As Ken sat down on the bus, he stared out the window and remembered her words.
"This... isn't going to work." She told him as he sat in a shocked stupor. She began to list the reasons. The kids, her past, the chemistry, and a few others.
'Funny how none of that mattered when you were coming over for a booty call every other weekend.' Ken thought. But he said nothing. Like a broken fool, he let her say her piece, and offered nothing to counter it.
For the next two days, Ken traveled on his way back home, worried about countless things. Among them how to explain to his niece and nephew that the only reason he's back to see them is because he got dumped. Sure, they'd be happy to see him. They always were. But they were smart kids. Smart enough to know he'd placed someone else above them.
The bus finally pulled into the station, ending two days of complete mind-numbing torture. There stood his father, waiting for him. Ken slowly got out of the bus and walked inside the terminal. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out.
"It's ok." Ken's father told him. "You're home. Right now that's all that matters. Let's go home and you can get some sleep."
The whole ride home, no words were exchanged. It wasn't until they got home, and Ken's father came in with some blankets that Ken spoke.
"I've got nowhere to go."
"Yea, you do." Ken's father replied. "As long as I'm breathing, you've always got a place to go."
Ken suddenly had a feeling that things would be ok. Little did he know, that the very next morning, his life would be changed forever.
