I was playing Lego Star Wars on my Wii (yes, I am a bit of a nerd), and then it was time to lock up the chickens. So I go out and look they are all there, thats good. I notice they are out of water, so I go and clean out their watering pan. Pepper the little black cat who followed me, she water for she was thirsty too. Now once I watered the animals, I turned to leave the chicken pin so I push on the wire which was made in to a door, mind you this isnt your thin chicken wire this is some pretty thick stuff. It was the cheap way of doing things, make it into hook then prop stuff up against it. Well when I pushed that wire it came back on me and got me right in the eye.
Now I am bleeding like a stuck pig, blood coming down my arm. Just nasty, now the ambulance is coming and all I can think about is a Christmas Story. The whole you'll shoot your out thing. It takes about 15 minutes for them to get to where I am, for you yankees out there I live in the sticks. Now we get to the hospital, they take x-rays of my face make sure I did not brake anything. The Jury is still out on that one. Though I did rip my lid and bust basicly all the blood vessels around my eye. The nurse and doctor both wanted me to stay away from blowing my nose, seeing how watery blood was still coming out my nose. The doc stiched my eye, the nurse rubbed gunk on it, then sent me home with pain pills and eye drops.
I am doing a pic blog on my myspace, if yall want to see its

Oh that is so NOT fun!
I had some dental work done in June, and was not able to eat for a few days except soup or other soft foods. Needless to say I was becoming very weak and lethargic and after sleeping on the couch for a nap I got up to go to the bathroom and I fainted, fell over into the bathtub hitting it with my forehead as I fell. Yep, woke up a bit later blood EVERYWHERE the ambulance came, I got 12 stitches and a nasty scar that you can see above my left eye if you look at my primary picture, and oh about $2,000.00 in hospital bills.
Good luck with your recovery, mine took several weeks!

oh you poor dear!
Well, if it's any consolation, very few people are told not to raise chickens for fear they might put their eye out so it's not like much of anyone could say "I told you so!"
And kudos on nerdliness!

Praise God! You still have your eye.
I'm sorry to hear that you went through that little ordeal, Matt. I'm glad that you are ok.
