Happy Thanksgiving to all! I hope your list of things for which you are grateful is ever so long.

I will never be able to think of Thanksgiving Day as Turkey Day. You see, I grew up in the disputed turkey capital of the world, Worthington, MN. Turkey Day was when the carnival was in town and Miss Worthington was crowned and there was a parade, complete with a flock of turkeys shepherded through the streets.

The Turkey Trot, which was a fun run (if I remember right) and the Gobbler Gallop rounded out the events. The Gobbler Gallop was the first leg of a race between Paycheck, Worthington's representative turkey, and Ruby Begonia, the turkey from Cuero, TX to determine which town would have legitimate claim to being "capital" for the year.

In my 30 plus years in TX, I have considered going to Turkey Day in Cuero a number of times, but have not done it yet.

Have a great day, no matter what you choose to call it. For me, it will be a day of gratitude, as I have been richly blessed in this year. A hearty and heart-felt thanks to all my friends and favorites on here for making participation so much fun.

Yup. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. And I shall, as always, give thanks for so many things.

It is every other day of the year here at MD that is often better known as Turkey Day.

Brightest blessings, lacy!

First of all LACY I am so thankful that you are my friend and that you have Henry the gray kitty to spend Thanksgiving with its his first one. I always forget that you are a Minnesotan by origin.

Happy happy day.

Secondly Cookie....I found a link here and in Note number 10 it seems to talk about this massacre. I will leave it for anyone else checking it out.
