If you have raised fish in an aquarium before, you probably noticed the fish will grow to a certain size of their environment and remain at that size. If you take those same fish and place them in a larger tank... they will grow larger than they were in the smaller tank.
I noticed this more than 25 years ago when I was married and had a few dozen tropical fish in various sized tanks.
The same way those fish grew larger... my ass grew larger whenever my wife bought me larger pants. It's true. I was 135 pounds when I got married and I began to grow at a rate of 8 pounds per year, simply because all the good cooking was making my ass grow larger.
Single guys just 'grab and growl'. They don't spend too much time cooking. Therefore, weight issues aren't a problem. It's after they are married for some time, they begin to crave good food in great quantities and at regular intervals.
As soon as my wife noticed I was busting out of my jeans, she would buy the next size larger. But, did she tell me this? Of course she did... women are smart. They don't pull punches... "Honey, you can't fit those old pants anymore, so I got you something more comfortable"

In my case... it was no different than "The Fish Tank Theory" The larger pants enabled my ass to grow larger.

'stuff' grows that way, too. Every move to a larger home seems so-o-o roomy.......for awhile :-)

I hope you don't take this personally. You are a sweat, versatile and very inteligent man. I heard this before: the health of the family depends on the cook. If, the cook ( wife, mother) is not health conscious, the whole family could ( will ) end up with health concerns ( obesity being one of the big ones). I believe now, that showing love by overfeedind your family with all the goodies, is a lauzy way of showing love. You feed them adiction. It's no diferent than giving them cigaretes, alcohol, drugs, etc. So, yes, the cook did the initial, and ongoing wrongdoing. But, where were you? She might not have been aware of the wrongdoing, cooking, pants and all. What about you? I have been overweight myself, and not that long ago. My point is: regardless of our circumstances, and what others do, we pick our choices, and we are still responsible, I mean RESPONSE ABLE.

Ok . . .I can accept, from personal experience that the "fish tank theory" has traction in the ass area. If there were any justice and equity in the world . . .it would also apply in the fly as well . . .

I hope you don't take this personally... No... I won't
At the time, there were many factors that contributed to weight gain. No one held a gun to my head and told me to take a second (or third) helping of food. But I had always used 'tight pants' as a gauge for weight. when the gauge was removed (bigger pants) I was no longer able to 'sense' how big I was getting. My ex-wife is a very good cook and prepared many healthy meals from scratch.
The intent of this blog is more humor than anything...

I have a better theory, I buy pants one size too small knowing I'm going to make myself get into them in a couple of months . Because once you start being larger, you go larger and larger and you've grown out of the tank. So I prefer not to grow out of the tank, but get into a smaller one
