After being sick as a dog for the past weekend I was finally up and semi alive ...then the phone rang.. I hear my sis in law in the other room talking on the phone and from the tone of her voice things were not good... I go into the room and ask her what is going on .. she says that her grandmother who has been in not so good of health has taken a turn for the worse...I asked "well do you want me to drive you out to see her??" At first she is hesitant.. and made some calls.. apparently one family member thought the grandmother had already passed and she really saw no point in driving out to see her then. So I said well call your aunt.. Come to find out she had not passed and had just been slipping in and out of consciousness and they did not give her much more time So I told her get ready we are going.. I stopped off, took my kids out of school and we were off.. through some of LAs most horrible traffic... didn't matter... I wanted her to be able to say goodbye..We drove the 85 miles in pretty good time.. she got to visit with her gramma and her aunt for a few hours...on the 2 1/2 hours drive home through rush hour traffic we got a call that gramma had passed about an hour after we had left ..We knew she wasn't long for this world and had been trying to juggle time and $$ to get out to see her for about 3 weeks... I was just glad that my sis in law got to see her gramma one more time before she passed and that she will have no regrets of not doing so... I know how those regrets can feel.and how they can eat away at you .. and I don't wish those feelings on anyone.. yes very bitter sweet.. losing a sweet lady yet being able to say goodbye .. I so wish I could've done that more times that I care to count
