Kudos to you for another wonderful story.
I know the tragedy of seeing a young one's opaque blue, enlarged eyes. I rescued a kitten that had that issue (but only in one eye), and the ointments the vet gave me did no good. Her eye ruptured and the vet had to remove it. He sewed the socket shut and I was left with the most adorable little one eyed cat....
Maybe one day I'll write a blog about her. Thanks for the inspiration

Louise sounds like a jolly little handful.
My youngest cat, Nelly, had eye as well as an umbilical hernia when I took her in...my "free" kitten cost me over $500. LOL. Fortunately, the eye responded to some very expensive goop and the tummy bulge was repairable, although it turned out to be far more serious than either the vet or I imagined. Nelly is a very naughty girl, with a very fluffy tail and some strange eating habits, which make me wonder if someone didn't have nonconsentual sex with a squirrel somewhere in the family tree.

Heading back now to read Part 1. This was an adorable story. I have rescued and taken in numerous animals of all varietys over the years and I really enjoyed reading this. Sadly, one of my cats beat me to two baby squirrels that had fallen from their nest a few weeks ago. I got the second one from her, but it died in my hand. So glad that yours did so well.

Every time I see a squirrel out on the tree, I always smile, thinking of you watching over them and caring so much!

“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
-Emma Lazarus
I think of this often when I read your rescue tales... You are the tiny ones' Lady Liberty, Florence Nightingale, and Emma Goldman; a fighter, compassionate caregiver, and symbolic (and real) champion of your little charges.
Hoo-rah for the little furry beings!!

I'll take this opportunity to answer for Sci. She's feeding a baby foxer at the moment. Yes, Louise is still the Buddha Squirrel. She's fat and happy, living a life that might not have been. She's just one of the many species that owe her life to people like Sci, wildlife rehabilitators around the globe.
