Me and a horse
By Hunter

So, I'm suppose to be scared of these big animals? pffffffffffft
Even though, the horses at Miracles in Motion are the VERY best!

(that was Hunter, Mom is taking over now.......)

I never knew the kind of impact riding on a horse would have on Hunter, I had some doubts. As with any new experience a child has, a parent will say, well-maybe they CAN play the tuba, maybe they WILL be able to dance, or BE the star quarterback.

At Miracles in Motion, we are all the same. Kids and Parents. I don't know if Hunter has learned more-or me.

I drive south on 380 to get to the farm. Hunter is pretty uncaring for a road trip, after so many trips to University of Iowa. But we take the Swisher turnoff. She perks. She sits up. She starts jabbering excitedly and pointing. I think she could BE a GPS device honed in on the farm!

As we cross (old) 218, she is saying Jasper? Jasper?
I can't drive fast enough for her.

The first day Hunter signed on with MIM, leaders said, "Well, you know some kids are pretty freaked out by the horse the first time or two."

Not Hunter.
Right up to a horse, arms up, put me on. I think she sensed the gentleness in those animals.

Volunteers are so appreciated...They are great with students as well as horses. (I know for a fact that they have been pinched a time or two) I know they are hard to come by, and I wish more healthy people WOULD donate some time to this wonderful organization. I would if I could.

So, thank you...from the bottom of my heart. For all you do.
And thank you for brightening Hunter's life.

Loreli...

I have worked with kids with autism with horses. Horses have a gentleness in their hearts that transcend to their movements with children. They have been known to bring even the most shutdown child around because the children can feel the gentleness of a great big ole heart that knows nothing more than how to love and have it returned..

In the 5 years remaining before my dream (my own horses) becomes a reality (mortgage needs to be paid in full and I need not to be running to work all the time) I would hope you would make the trip to my place and Hunter and you can be my horse guests...

My daughter's first success with a teacher was when she was on a horse

This child who was dyslexic,,,add,,,whatever went on to become a Top HONOUR student in Academics and a Top Knotch A Circuit Equestrian even qualifying for the British Columbia Championships,,,

I was told early on that riding a horse changes the 'brainwaves' which is ONE of the reasons
Therapeutic riding is so beneficial
