I am torn this morning between two concepts -- that at first blush seem antithetical. In terms of spiritual/religious beliefs, I have moved in recent years to belief in unity -- we are all one, connected, with no duality, no good and evil, no heaven or hell... In political terms, I am becoming more and more aware of the erosion of liberty -- loss of independence. But if we are all one, why am I seeking to preserve my independence? And if there is no good/evil dichotomy, then why should I fear(?) tyranny and new world order?
In the last several insomniac hours, I have been listening to video on http://www.republicmagazines.com/ about such things as the Fed, tax law (or lack thereof), bio-chips, evolution, population control, the Bilderberg group, organ harvesting from Chinese political prisoners, the myths of peak oil and global warming, medical experimentation, NAFTA and the Texas Corridor...all related to the New World Order -- globalization -- the human race dumbed down to be controlled by the elite in a police state -- one nation under god?
On the other hand, I have also been reading and listening to information about healing and about mind developing tools and techniques and the power of the mind. I've been reading Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, and I have been reading about The Law of Attraction and The Secret. I have long said that I would live to be 125, but I am thinking much longer life is not only possible, but desirable (though not as a slave in a police state.) Consider what could be learned and developed and contributed by a person who had 300 or 700 years of life...
Perhaps I did not get enough sleep...
Perhaps I am dreaming or nightmaring...
Row, row, row your boat Gently down the stream Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream.

Isn't it strange how the mind builds it own prison in the guise of "freedom of thought."

Perhaps I did not get enough sleep... One of the most important factors in long life...
...is adequate, restorative sleep...
It keeps the dark shadows of paranoia at bay...
Dream on...

this topic must be too deep for most people, only two comments so far. I read most of it, but I admit getting distracted by that pretty pic of you with your long blonde hair. the New World Order of globablization isn't all that new. I just took an online history class this summer. global trade began when Columbus brought back new food staples from America, which he thought was India. he also tried converting the native peoples to Christianity. so the globalization of goods and ideas is at least 500 yrs old. just my two cents. as for the rest, I try to be happy to be alive and in this country. I know I won't be around forever. have a nice day

There is a book called "Why We Are Hardwired For God" it was part of my psychology required readings. I won't go into it, but we do need that sense of balance right/wrong, black/white, good/eveil. Our brain chemicals work that way.
then why should I fear(?) tyranny and new world order Because it is your subconscious telling you there is something inherantly wrong with it. You have to work out and decide just for yourself what it is telling you that. But I would say trust your instincts. If it feels wrong to you, there is something about it you don't trust, and that in itself takes away from the length of your life. J

There is nothing new under the sun, what you speak of has been going on since humans existed, it simply is a matter of scale. In terms of global trade there were Vikings and some think Chinese here [as well as native Americans] in this hemisphere suffering from the same thing long before Columbus.
At least for Buddhist thought if not Jesus thought where they said there is a Buddha or Jesus within us all. That is extended to all things on this planet not just the human race.
Speaking as one who found some sage wisdom in the Philosophy of Taoism where they say we have limited life resources and reserves within the human body and once used they cannot be replenished so chose your battles wisely, do not waste your time and life's resources on things you can do nothing about.

Great point! Or several great points, rather. I had considered doing a blog drawing comparisons of the present despotism to George Orwell's 1984. Surveillance, disinformation, etc.
As for feeling that individualism makes you dualistic, I can only refer to that book of books, the Tao te Ching: One cannot deviate from the Tao.
