How can you people watch baseball anymore?
I mean...how can you watch it knowing those players are doing nasty, nasty steroids? Aren't you worried they might kill their wives and children because of "roid rage"?
And how can you give the MLB and their teams your money, knowing that they weren't doing anything about their players being on steroids, to the point where Congress had to get involved and do something about it? Are you telling me you REALLY support that?
Seriously, you people and your REAL, unscripted sports. I don't think your REAL ATHLETES are anything but PHONIES.

And for that matter, how can anyone watch anything in Hollywood. I mean, aren't they afraid they'll all have their spouses shot or stab them in the face?

It's everywhere LGQ.......unfortunately. I love baseball.......I have Matt Holiday on my Christmas list.....tied up in a nice red bow, please. But I understand what you are saying.....think of it this way, athletes that do steroids really only hurt themselves in the long run......that stuff is really dangerous. In the "real" world, steroids are used in the form of cortisone injections......I had to have two for plantar fasciitis in my foot ...but legitimate doctors won't give you more than two or three even though they help the pain.....they degenerate the tissue. Like I said, they are only hurting themselves in the long run.
Matt Holiday looks all natural.

Isn't it amazing how people who throw around a freaking ball get so much credit in our society and get paid the most?

Isn't it amazing how people who throw around a freaking ball get so much credit in our society and get paid the most? It's amazing, but hardly a mystery. They get so much credit and money because so many people give it to them. Fans, you know, short for "fanatics." Where else would it come from? We hear a lot of wringing-of-hands and gnashing-of-teeth over sports druggies. Do we also see empty stadia and falling TV viewership and sponsorship? Last time I heard such menacing public outrage, or paid any attention, was a quarter-century ago when it was beginning to cost a week's salary to take the kids to a ballgame, and then the player/heroes charged money for autographs. Needless to say, major-league baseball was not boycotted back to the sandlots back then, and I don't see it happening now, drugs or none.

The report said that they suspect 5% of baseball player were using steroids. Shocking! I'm going to start watching Pro Wrestling. Now, THERE's a clean sport.
As for what they get paid....... I think all pro atheletes are WAY overpaid.

Just as no one should lump all MD members together as partaking in a particular behavior.......I don't think it's fair to lump all baseball players together either. I agree steriods are bad...but it seems there is no sport, profession, entertainment group or even religious group is totally pure. We have to look at the positives, try to dwell on them and enjoy them.....and deal with the negatives the best way possible. ......just my opinion

Roger Clemens???? 7 time Cy Young winning pitcher? wow......they said that that his alleged use scanned most of his highlighted career. You have to wonder if attaining those records is worth cheating...I mean.....the person doing it knows the truth and it must be a hollow, meaningless empty victory.

How can you people watch baseball anymore? I stopped years ago, long before the steroid scandal...mostly in an effort to not slip into an irreversible coma.

It is cheating! What they have done is inexcusable! All the older players, Babe Ruth especially, has lost their place in history because someone wanted to cheat! Just like they did to the 8 players of the 1919 Chicago White Sox, better known as the Black Sox, all these players should be banned, now! And never allowed to play major league baseball again!
One more thing, romove their names from induction proceeding at the Baseball Hall Of Fame! Until after their death with asterisks attached! Pete Rose, one of the best ball players ever, is banned right now because he gambled on ball games! He can not enter the Hall Of Fame either!
These men have shamed Baseball, shamed me, shamed all of their fans and most of all shamed themselves! We don't know as yet what this has said and done to the kids playing or going to play, baseball!
I say "NO MERCY"! Out they go!!!!

That's not a lot. And there are plenty of great players that were not on that list. And honestly, the only surprise on that list to me was Roger Clemens. The rest were obvious.
Please please please....I hope this means that Barriod Bonds' FAKE, STOLEN record disappears! And I agree...every single one of those players needs to be banned from baseball.
And speaking of Pete Rose....REINSTATE ROSE! BAN BONDS!!

Not only MLB, look at some of the other sports, NFL, Vick convicted of dog fighting?, NBA, Coby Bryant and what he did and got away with, I feel these guys are well overpayed and bored.

If I am correct, the sport that has a man kill his wife and kids was the fake wrestling.
Actually, MLB did do the right thing to help stop the future abuse of these nasty drugs, actually I was quite surprise that they did that.
I love my NY Yankee's, but any player who was caught should have their record remove during the time where MLB can prove they bought or was using it.
You would actually have to get rids of all sports, just look at football, cycling, horse racing, basketball .....etc

You know what?
Please, just stop it with the wrestling being fake, ok?
One of my favourite wrestlers is dead due to an in ring accident, and the other has a broken back. One of my favourite wrestlers can't sit on the floor and play with his kids because of all the times that he took bumps and people thought he was dead. Some of them will have brain damage due to the fact that they jump off of 20 foot high surfaces and land on either another human being, the ring, or concrete. They have had muscles torn straight from the bone.
There is nothing fake about any of that.
And God help any of you who call these men phonies.

I don't watch sports but my kids do and I was shocked that last time I took them to a football game. The price, for tickets ($60.00 each for cheap seats), parking ($55.00), a hotdog ($5.00), after this I lost track and pulled out the VISA to get my son a jersey, a towel and a hat (it was his B-Day gift). The look on my face when the bill came? Priceless!!! Even though our team was winning we left at 1/2 time because we couldn't see. Why people do this regularly is beyond my comprehension and pocketbook.
It's not just sports. I once took my daughter and her friend to see her Idol in concert. I can't remember the prices but it totaled around the same as the FB game. It was a great show and at least we stayed to the end.
I bring these both up because I think there should be a cap on all entertainment so that all people can have a chance to experience things that they enjoy. If we continue to pay they will continue to overcharge.
BTW- If I had to choose I'd prefer my children to look up to a sports player over my daughter's Idol who was, dare I say, Britney Spears.
