For those that don't believe in God and soul, you truly don't have the intelligence nor expertise to make such a claim.
This was a quote from a blog yesterday, a statement so bold that I had to look at it a few times to see if I was just imagining it. I would counter that those that believe in IG don't have the intelligence or imagination to take in the whole of creation; from the smallest building block of matter to the largest galaxy.
One thing did occur to me; I was taught in physics class about the conservation of energy theory, where no matter what happened, whatever event no energy is lost, it is transferred either to heat, light, etc. So, here's my point, according to big bang theory, the entire universe was created out of nothing, from no matter, no energy. I know there is now the theory of the multiverse and multiple realities; many of which can be seen via matchdoctor. Some worlds I just would not like to visit. I digress; is this where a creator can be; at the very start of creation? Tipping the way the universe expands just making it right for matter to exist in the way it does to sustain an expanding or stable universe?
The Bible is, in places, an historical record. However in other places it is just a copy of older myths and legends. As for the New Testament, well, the existance of maybe 30 gospels at one time before being edited down to four because there are four prime directions so there should be four gospels does not seem a very sound editorial policy for the Word of God.
I know this is the usual guff about the Bible, creationist and those of us living in reality. But it's my take, and it's just as valid as any other crackpot.

One thing you did not mention. The meaning of the word "God" itself. As given in the text of the Book, it means "Truth"--it is not anthropomorphic at all.
Another issue is, since the universe is a closed system, and it is by definition, how can one claim a big bang or even a fire cracker start?
One thing that I have always pondered, Time itself is measured as a function of mass in motion. It is even done so at the foundation of many physics formula.
If that is true, how can one judge that the Universe, as a whole, even participates in time, as it can, by definition, have nothing other in which to be relative too?
This leaves only the notion of local time in the Universe itself, maintaining a closed system, which was original by definition.
This brings us back to "God" The possibility of life in the Universe who normally guides the development of other life in the Universe.

That's not the theory of the Big Bang...here: "The Big Bang is the cosmological model of the universe whose primary assertion is that the universe has expanded into its current state from a primordial condition of enormous density and temperature."...wiki
At the center of the Bang was a compressed field of incredibly dense matter, not the absence of matter that you suggested.
Is it true that all beliefs in gods are based on peoples inability to understand the physical world around them?

Temporature itself is measured as a function of time, something that the theory claims did not exist. The theory accepts contradictions in order to effect the theory itself.

As far as multiple realities goes, one would have to contradict the very foundation of the language they speak, just like the Big Bang Theory.
One thing even some very early Greeks realized is what definition is, that there were three primary classes of words, only one of which can be defined, the other two classes define the first. What all this means is that there is so much error in current and past lit as to create enough of a fire to roast marshmellows for a couple of generations and it is being generated constatly by what man considers the intelligencia.

The Bible has been written and re-written so many times it no longer reads as it was originally designed. It is simply a tool to manipulate the masses. Personally, I believe if there is a God he wants what we want for ourselves.... that's why the World is in such great shape in some ways and in such a freaking mess in so many others.
