I just returned from my Holiday. It was great to see everyone but as we all know its always good to come back. It was especially good to be able to finally see my niece Carrie. She is my niece who lost her friend weeks ago. I got to talk to her, and my sister extensively about Anne's death. They both shared wonderful stories with me about this little girl. This one in particular touched me so much I had to share it. The night they found out Anne was in a coma my sister brought Carrie and two other friends of Annes to visit her and pay respect. My sister told me (and she is a nurse) it was one of the most heartwrenching/yet uplifting things she ever witnessed. When they got to the ICU Anne's parents were understandably distraught, but they had asked my sister to bring the friends. The parents, and my sister allowed all the girls some last alone time in the room with Anne who was unresponsive laying on her back. (keep in mind these girls are fourteen years old) As the parents and my sister looked on in the ICU window, the girls brought some cd's, some of Annes favorites. They sang to her and touched her and lotioned her arms. My sister looked again and she noticed Carrie braiding Annes hair in one long braid from some hair in front of her face. My sister was touched by this and never let on to Carrie she saw this. Later, this is what my sister found out at the funeral. All three of the friends had taken some strands of Annes hair and braided it. Then, they took all three braids and wove it into one to resemble all three girls friendship to Anne. The mom shared this with my sister on the day of the funeral. The mom said she did not have the heart to remove them, so Anne was buried with the three braids . Carrie is holding up. She writes poems about her friend and she says this helps. Annes mom also let the three friends take a keepsake of Annes to remember her, and Carrie wears Annes birthstone ring around her neck. I find this so touching. I wanted to share this story before i write about any of my adventures up north. I thought this was amazing. peace
