Once again, I must make the statement about "unwanted advice".

Don't give it to me.

The next person to give me unwanted advice, about weight or otherwise, I will report to the mods.

Some guy I don't even know just emailed me to tell me that men are going to avoid me because I like to take the lead role in relationships. Seriously, I don't even know or talk to this guy.

I want to be left alone to live my life; unless I ask you for input leave me alone.

Got it?

BTW- my boyfriend loves that I've taken the lead role. FYI.

I get that sort of stuff all the time. I find it amusing. Sadly though those unwanted advice givers usually end up liking me and bothering me for what ever reason. I figure it's because they think they know what's best for everyone, or they want you to fit into what ever type of person they think all women should be. What ever that type might be.

Laughing... oh, it's human nature and I'm firmly convinced that if people would only listen to me, I could solve all of "their" problems. I'll try to withold my "suggestions" but if I do forget, just remind me. *G*

You're beautiful, smart, witty, and levelheaded why would someone try to give YOU of all people advice? You've already reached your own perfection!

Hon, I'm 53 and I still get advice from others.....wanted or unwanted. That's life. That's people. Get used to it. Take what you want and leave the rest.

I had a man on a different site tell me I would be pretty if I had a nose job (he actually took the time to email a plastic surgeon link..LMAO) I had NEVER seen him prior to that email. I did write back and politely ***cough cough**** I told him he'd be reasonably handsome if he'd STFU and join the Men's Hair Club. Oddly, I never heard back from him..........hmmmmmmm.......must be busy getting is hair in order.

I agree OP ~ if I want someone's opinion, I'll blog it, let it roll. If I talk in private email and am all of a sudden getting the old "well, you really should.........." the conversation is usually done at the moment. When I ask, great ~ when I don't....well, you know the rest......STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Control, control, control..... the less they can control their own lives, the more they try to control everybody else's.

What do you tell them.... go to control-hell??

A little extreme, doncha think? I mean, it's not like these people can really affect your life... or, can they?

quit your whining to get attention and folks won't feel your seeking input. You don't like the emails, just delete them and don't waste your pretty little brain matter worrying about it. It's only cyber space.

I’m guilty of this myself… not to be nasty.. However if I’ve read something that compels me, like if I read pain into something…. I try to say something to give strength or comfort.. I know it isn’t always welcome. I think there are some that in their own way think they’re helping… I guess the thing would be to ignore and delete it…

There is nothing wrong with being a strong person… as long as your not trying to control anyone, or being hurtful.. Being strong is a good thing to be…. If you like who you are, and have a good balance .. Then you go girl!!!

"Advice," along with insults, adulation and rambling chit-chat, is what you get for speaking in public and having a contact address. Perhaps if you can teach yourself to write badly, you can reduce the fan mail.

...Unwanted advice, oh how I love it...

Just like my medical diagnoses, it is so comforting to know that there are some delightful people here who care enough to let us know that they think we are overweight, mentally ill, or stupid. It really makes me feel better knowing that there are such caring people in the world out there.

...Thanks to them I am now on a variety of pharmeceuticals and on my way to becoming anorexic/bulemic, I'm torn between the two.

I just ignore them. Like the time a man I had never heard from felt the need to write and tell me he thought I would look better with dark hair. Hmmm, I don't color my hair for anyone but myself. I don't need another controlling man in my life. I am me, take it or leave it. I don't try to change anyone.

I suspect that anyone trying to change our dear LGQueen vould be a very, very optomistic soul.

Sometimes unwanted advice does benefit someone ... it all just depends on the words being spoken/written.

Personally, I don't try to give anyone advice anymore... it's rather pointless.
