Pretty quiet Christmas today as I'm not spending it with friends, so I'm spending my holiday in front of the computer reading the 1911 Indianapolis Star. While family or friends would be more enjoyable, an afternoon in the past has its rewards. Reading about long ago games and players truly takes me back to another world and a good one at that. The game was more interesting then than it is now and reading the accounts of those days is truly fascinating. Yes it is a quiet but in a way satisfying way to spend part of my Christmas.

Did someone mention baseball??? I practically live for baseball season. It's true the game has changed through the years, but it is still the only sport I follow from the first day of spring training until the last game of the World Series. Each season has a few surprises and many disappointments, but it has been a part of my life for many years, and I am anxiously awaiting the 2008 season.
