Instead, I inherited responsibility...my kids always came first,then my job and my bills...
I inherited practicality......I gave up designer clothes and fancy makeup when I knew I had small children that didn't impress in the least....
I inherited frugality.....we weren't born in a barn! Doors are shut, lights are turned off, loads of laundry must be full....
i inherited a knowledge of an education unlike one I would have gotten in college...a baby's first words, first kiss, first steps, watching them grow and have beautiful children of their own...
I inherited a knowing of when to say I was wrong, I am sorry, I'm scared, or I won't sit back and take that!....
I inherited a "stick my hair up in a ponytail because who cares" attitude (the one that usually runs me into a hunk at the grocery store)
I inherited a fierceness in protection of my loved ones ( or maybe because I'm a Leo? As is my Mom)
But mostly, I LEARNED on my own that beautiful is a person from inside out. And I know a lot of the most beautiful people, that will never grace the cover of a magazine, or "get discovered", and will be there for anyone they care about, with mud under their nails, sweat on their forehead, or thread-worn clothing on...even when they COULD afford to be "prettier."
I'm not pretty....
but I'm working on being "beautiful!"

some may fall for the flash and dazzle.... but if there isn't any substance behind it, it all crumbles away when substance is needed...
You, my friend, have depth, intelligence, laughter, character, wisdom, empathy, and too many other wonderful qualities to list... it makes you a very valuble person....

You need not "work" toward that end, as you have already attained it. Beautiful is what oozes out from inside you and each of us that gets close to you knows this (although, dear heart, your outside is wayyyyy beautiful in and of itself). Beautiful is a heart that takes the time to listen, it is the character that forgives when others would not, it is sound of your laughter... you are correct... you are not "just" pretty, you ARE beautiful.
