.....My pad is done up in classic bachelor style. Lava lamps, a wine rack, setee for two, and a bitchin' stereo setup. After a long days work I come home to a shot of Jack chased with Iced Tea, roll up a smoke and set the ITunes to "Coltrane".
....Something about the BopMasters fluid style and crazy timing combines with the charcoal in the Tennessee liquor and the THC to transport me high above NY, NY to a time in the late '50 s where cool was cool and Jazz was King. And Coltrane was the King of Jazz.....to be. Back in those days Charlie Parker was gettin' most of the kudos.
....I haven't gone as far as the smoking jacket and the pipe...yet. But as Hugh Hefner gets closer and closer to death the stronger my urge to help preserve this waning lifestyle once so eagerly embraced by American Maledom.
....In short my pad is like a railway station ladies.......you can pass through, but ya can't live here. At this late date in life I need my "space".
...Unless of course you can learn to enjoy whiskey, weed, and Jazz too.....
...I'm installing a short putting green in the living room.
...No woman would put up with that unless she was LPGA, and we all know they don't have boyfriends....
....Will I succeed in my goal to be the ultimate "hipster dufus"?
....Are there any groovy chicks from the Beat Generation who aren't on walkers?
....Is it Ok to eat unbaked cookie dough?
....If a tree falls on my Jeep when no one is around, does it cost less to fix the roof?
...I don't know the answers to these or any other questions, but I do know good sax when I hear it and The Trane is tops on my list.
....Time to kick back in my easy chair and let it all tumble out.....with whiskey, smoke and Coltrane.

I was downstairs in my office today - I have a copy of the original Poster from "Blue Train" hanging - Greatest Jazz release EVAH! IMHO
I also have original Photos of Bird, Prez, Dizzy and Miles. I grew up with Jazz and was blessed to have seen many of the masters when I was a teen! I collect the music and memorabilia.
I also have a copy of the "Great Day in Harlem" poster - I just read that Oscar Peterson passed away - not too many left on the picture anymore - their music lives on - thank God
BTW - you don't need THC, whiskey or anything to listen to Trane

He's right, you don't NEED this stuff to listen to Trane, or any other good jazz or blues,,,,
but there is something about dark lights, whiskey straight up, and a smoke filled room that makes the music drill deeper into your soul.
It finds that mark, deep inside, where the evil lives,,,,the storage vault of countless let downs, broken dreams, love affairs with hard hearted women, and countless raw deals,,,,,
The stuff where the "blues" not only live, but thrive,,,,
For me, it's Lucille, and BB King,,,,,Ray Charles,,,,,and Muddy Waters.
That mix of South Chicago, Bourban Street, Bottom Blues, and gospel,,,,
Just, don't bug me when I''ve got it on. It's my time to wrestle the demons and purge my soul, and tourists are not welcome. Call me old school, but it's not about chicks, it's about finding your lost mantra, masculinity, pride,,,,or what ever else was ripped from you.
