I have reached the splendid state of enlightenment I always warned myself about. From my personal state of darkness, I now have installed 4 rooms of Dish Network. I now have the world at my fingertips. Not only can I reach out to the world via the Internet but now I can have the whole world invade my home via the TV. I am a now quite surely a worldly man. I may change my ID to worldsenchanting.
Truthfully I find only one or two stations fun to watch. I like TVLand (mostly for Andy Griffith, MASH and Bonanza) and I have always enjoyed StarTrek. I suppose there will be a movie or two that I will watch but in general, I have not found that the $29.95 per month is really very well spent. One good thing though, is that now that I find myself wasting my time I am reconsidering ways to better benefit the use of my time
Is Blog writing really one of them?

I haven't had cable or satellite in 3 years. I have 2 channels and I cannot abide 99.9% of the crap that in on, which is fine because I keep busy. Lately though I am starting to miss the history, discovery, BBC. I did enjoy those stations. I'll probably take the leap here and get satellite, but only in the living room. 4 rooms is pretty brave.

I looked over the blurb I got just from Direct TV (I don't know if that's the same as DishNetwork) and the offer out here is for $29.95 a month, but only for the first year...then it jumps to $59.95/month (and you're supposed to make an 18 month commitment or be subject to a $480 fee) -- and that's without internet!
But I tore up their offer, not because of the cost but because I don't have a "real" TV
And I don't want the world invading my "nest", lol.
hehehe, I have to admit that I'm surprised at you becoming so "worldly", MrEnchanting. ~grin~ Already I can see that some of the novelty's wearing thin. I'm guessing the allure of the tube will wane once Springtime lures you back to the workshop...unless you get "hooked", of course.
Best of luck. And don't let your brain turn to mush.

As with all Television the tapestry is woven as we watch. I see the reality shows involving crime situations where the point is taking forever to make and I thing "Get on with it already!" It would be easy to show a couple pictures and say here is a woman who was seduced by some guy we are looking for and here is a general rundown of his mode of operation. It would probably take all of 5 minutes, but that would not be entertaining or allow time to run 7 commercials. I just want to see the finished tapestry. I guess I lack patience though I can fish for hours.
Cookie... I can see the value in that I may migrate that way and check those out. I feel the same way as I stated above about watching whales swim on Discovery. It is beautiful but I can only learn a half a dozen facts in an hour. A book or Internet excursion would serve me better.
Dee... If 4 rooms is just as free of charge as 4 then it is best to do four. You never can tell when you want to change the location of your TV . I did not see it so much "brave" as utilitarian
Sun Babe I have always liked TV, but I refer to the movie I like to watch each night. I buy VHS movies for 50 cents each and sell the ones I do not want to keep for a dollar. does this keep me from Nature? Nope. I have several signs posted in the woods inviting the deer and raccoons to come watch TV with me. So far I have only seen them peeking from behind trees. I always leave the curtains open.
