I was looking for pictures to help me with artwork I am working on for a book when I ran into this:
Man being tortured.
It was part of an article which says, in part:
"While we are focusing on [Iran's] nuclear weapons development, as we should, we cannot deny the human suffering of the Iranian people," Brownback said. "This story needs to be told."
As a backdrop to the new Brownback bill, former Iranian political prisoners and their relatives gave grisly testimony Thursday of torture under the regime of former president Mohammad Khatami, who is currently visiting the United States . .... . Before anyone asks, or assumes: no, I was not looking up images or articles related to tortured men or persons. So, this was a real shock to me, in more ways than one, when this image turned up.
There's no point to this blog, no political perspective that is. Because I don't care who you are, what you've done, or which side of anything you are on: no one deserves that!
I'm glad I believe in God and what the Holy Scriptures say, because I can look forward to a day when no one on the Earth will ever be treated that way again, no matter where they live or what they look like. It helps me get through the day, despite some of the ugly things I know that go on. .. I don't know how other people manage to do it; those who think they are on their own, I mean!

I feel the same. How can anyone function in todays world without the "Holy Spirit". Christ left it for us. His teachings, keep me sane.

Ironically, if you were to say this in that part of the world, you'd most likely be tortured too. Actually, if I said that, and only that, I might be alright.. might be .. ... depending on how it was taken ... but considering the passport I'd be holding onto and the fact that I have a New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures it'd be off with my head, almost 100 percent guaranteed.
It happens a lot, over there.

A lot of people left Iran at speed because of the persecution they were put through for believing in a diferent religion. I know this as fact as I met some escapees.
The newpapers here reported them as Jewish when in fact they were Bahai. Mount Karmel is the central focus of this religion which could explain a lot!
I also think most of the intelligent Iran people left so we have a couple of generations of people growing up before the balance is restored.

MarkAndy: The newspapers do that a lot. Now when one of Jehovah's Witnesses gets publicly executed, it may be reported as them "killing Christians".
However, if you read any of the sites regarding what American people tend to think Christian is, if you read what they think Jehovah's Witnesses are, it's obvious that no one, including the government, consider them Christian outside of when it can be used to stir the public into a frenzied need for revenge.
It's disgusting! What's even more disgusting, to me, is that if they had known they were Jehovah's Witnesses, most people would say they deserved what they got. Even though, either way, they were doing the same sort of work and in the name of the same Christ!
We used to get people coming by the chat room and making jokes over that guy who was publicly executed where it was shown on American television, a few years ago. Because those people weren't listening very well and thought he was being executed for being one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
"He deserved what he got for being stupid enough to be what he was." they said. And I would say "Oh, so you aren't an American who works for a living? Or, you are and you think you should have your head slowly cut off for it?"
Humans are humans.. I wish the newspapers would report it trutfhully, I wish the government would let them (notice when Brokaw retired, okay: that is NOT a coincidence!), and I wish people would realize that no one deserves to have their head chopped off; for practicing their own beliefs which do not lead to overthrowing governments, bombing or otherwise hurting anyone else, etc., especially.
