I did not decide one day to write poetry. It just started coming to my mind. I would be bored in the Wednesday night services at church and I would either draw something or write poetry. My first poem was a silly thing called "Floors"
Floors are nice if you like floors so much better to walk on than doors Floors are to stand on you can walk on them too if there wasnt a floor I'd fall, wouldn't you?
I was 16 years old. I chuckled in self amusement as I substituted new words into the format I had created, coming up with a second and third poem within minutes
Cars are nice, if you like cars Someday I'd like to drive mine to Mars I'd visit Venus, and Jupiter too If cars could fly, I'd go, wouldn't you?
Horses are nice if you like horses, twice as better than cows, of courses Horses run fast... as fast as the wind with a head at the front and a tail at... the end
I have written so many of these little poems that I put them all in a collection called "Redundance" Then just a few years and a thousand poems later I added this one to the collection...
Frogs are nice, if you like frogs They grow from eggs to polliwogs frog legs are tasty (it's said to be true) but if you were a fly the frog would eat you
Most of my poetry is not silly like these examples. My writing always fits my mood ranging from inspirational and romance to sarcasm and humor. I have published a few of my poems at www.rhapsody.homestead.com/index.html if any of you might be interested in reading a few of them. I titled the web collection as "Palette of the Heart" I do not post the information as self aggrandizement but just as a way of sharing with the many people who have written and say they read my blog frequently. I better quit writing and get to some honest work now.
