For the first time in the debates I must say that I'm impressed. Not with any one particular person, but for the fact that the debates are once again engageing the issues in front of the American people. I would like to see more and I would like to see the format that was presented tonight, continued. Allow the moderator the power to keep them in line, but keep getting the candidates to engage each other on the topics.
I would like to see the news media open a monthly forum that invites the candidates to debate. Whoever shows up, gets to debate and if one decides not to show, well, then his opponent has an open mic for that debate. Competition is healthy. Communication is healthy. And requireing our political parties to participate or risk issolation is expecially healthy for the country and the people.
We will certainly not all agree upon who we want to see elected, but I think we can all agree that we want a president that is engaged with the country and the people ... and not be allowed to hide or avoid that engagement. The greatest danger we face are politicians that are allowed to arrange and control their exposure to the news media and the American people.
Bravo to the news media for getting back involved in the process and representing what is indeed best for America!

yeah...I agree. I love the debates.....they won't be as fun this year without the incumbent-isms ....but they are a great way of seeing who does their homework and who doesn't.Good blog.

This is too dangerous. The news media cannot be trusted to be netural. Some are owned by people that have been aligned to certain parties and canidates.
Heel if you cannot trust them now for accurate news--just imagine what they would be up to.

Thanks, Injuneer....good thoughts. I'd also like to see an open invitation to ALL candidates. Why do the 'big' media think that they can decide if we should hear from Dennis Kuncinich and Ron Paul? Both of them were interviewed by Bill Moyer last night, and I found it an informative piece.

This primary election process has been a joke. In case anyone hasent figured it out yet the media decides who will be our president. This year if you will notice the media is trashing Hillary Clinton, and promoting Barack Obama. They are doing this because they know that they can not beat Hillary in a general election.
They want Obama to be the Democrat candidate because they know that the conservative republicans will rally together to beat a black man. Its sad what has happened to American politics, we don't vote for the person who will do best for America, we vote for the best con artist!!
