Why is she so lazy?

People in the kitchen business refer to a rotating shelf as a "Lazy-Susan"
I don't know the actual origin to the name... but we all call it that.
Maybe the inventors daughters name was Susan.

I like the corner cabinets that are totally lazy susan design.
Makes use of an otherwise inaccesable area.

The truth is: I was working.

I'm making engineering drawings of a custom corner cabinet for a kitchen project and I had to visit the manufacturers website for specifications on their lazy Susan hardware... OK, so I got a little sidetracked.

Curiosity killed the cat. I Googled it. On Wikipedia.org, I found the following tidbit of information:
Thomas Jefferson is reputed to have invented the Lazy Susan[citation needed], which has been in popular use since the eighteenth century. Lazy Susans were originally known as dumbwaiters, although the name Lazy Susan replaced this term in the twentieth century, though no later than 1917. In many parts of the world including Britain, the term "dumb waiter" nowadays means something completely different: a lift or elevator for transporting items such as food and plates between floors of a house, usually from a kitchen to a dining room.

Interesting !

I found info about Lazy Susans. The article is titled
"Does anyone know how the name "lazy Susan" from revolving kitchen cabinet shelves came about ?"

I have the gold one Cyn refers to! My mom gave me one she didn't use anymore, back in the early 80's. Wanna make me an offer?
