I would want you without your tattoos, piercings, hair
dye .. all the things that bring brightness and
beguilement to your plumage
I would want you if you knew no one but the few persons
on your window washing route, or even the ones who
gathered with you behind the same McDonald's after
closing.
How, though, would you know? How can you take my word
for this when I only met you as you are, after all?
It is true, when I met you, already you were brightly
colored and studded with shining bits of metal, dressed
in seductive animal flesh, riding on a chrome horse.
But I wanted you...
And I am not into tattoos, piercings, hair dye, all the
things that bring brightness and beguilement to your
plumage.
I am not into the people that you have mentioned
knowing .. I judge not a person's worth by how many
people come to listen to them wail, how many photos are
taken, or how big their paycheck is, but by how true to
their heart they are, how kind to others. I don't care
who you know!
I have looked past these things, to see a man who is
well worth the knowing. If I can look past these
things, I can look past all things.. if you fall, I
will reach out my hand to help you up again; if you
have to crawl, I will lower myself beside you so that I
can still look into your eyes and hear your words; and,
you know this, because if you must fly high and fast,
still, I am here, waiting .. not able to keep pace, but
ever trusting in your return.
Just so you know.
