Whose nuts these are, I do not know
I found them in my boot below
wherein I tried to place my foot
try as I might, it would not go

It was quite odd when I withdrew
my toes had touched this something new
an eerie feeling this indeed
as I peeked into my shoe

I did not count but I surmise
a hundred acorns met my eyes
some squirrel chose to be my guest
and leave me with this odd surprise

I poured them out upon a sheet
and folded it so nice and neat
then tossed it through the open door
past the porch and my bare feet

It was only 36 hours since I had worn them last and I still can not find any hole in the house where a squirrel could have gotten in.

I loved this blog. We had a pet squirrel that lived in my house when I grew up and we used to find little treasures under our pillows...his favorite place to hide.
