I was on my way to pick up my girls and a dog ran out in front of me. I did the stupid thing and swerved. I saw some hay bales in front of me and the next thing I knew I was in my car and the only thing keeping me from falling onto my right passenger door was my seat belt. I thought Oh my God! I am on my side!!! All I could think about is my girls and how they would worry if i didn't pick them up. I had to get out of the car and get to them. It was then that I noticed my windshield was all funny looking. I held out my right leg and it touched something. Later I found out it was my bible. I released my seatbelt and let my other leg down, it hurt a little bit. Then I sat down on the right door. There was some glass but not to much. I thought ok... stand up, open the drivers door, and climb out. It always works on TV right? That is such bull, I could only open it enough to scream help me over and over. I realized I was not going to get out that way and decided to sit down. I then thought, my windshield is broken so i am going to do like they do and kick it out and get out and go for help. Another lie. I sat there crying my eyes out and it was then that I thought I smelled something burning. I said God, if it is my time and I am going to die here now please take me home to you and let me go to heaven. Please take care of my girls Lord. After a few minutes the smell started to go away. I was sitting trapped in my car and all I kept thinking is my girls are going to worry about me, I need to get out of here. I said God please send someone to get me out. A white truck appeared a few moments later and the women inside saw me and stopped. She used her cell phone to call the fire department and an ambulance. It was then I really started to cry. My poor car, it was on it's side and it had a smashed windshield. A handsome man appeared and said are you ok ? I said I think I am, Did I hit the Dog? He told me to hold on until the fire depatment got there and they would get me out. They kept talking to me and A few minutes later the fire department showed up and cut the winshield out and they helped me out. I saw my car and broke down. My rearview mirror was on the ground behind baby blue and I could see her engine , the hood was so smashed. No wonder I couldn't open the door it was all messed up. She looked like a can of pop that someone had beaten. It was then I realized what they said was true, I was so lucky to be alive. I am bruised all over my legs, My head hurts still and I am sore. I feel like I have been beaten on a little bit , Other than that I am ok. I AM STILL ALIVE. I thank God it happened before I picked up my girls. If I had not put that seat belt on I would be dead now no doubt about it. The things in my glove box were all over the car everything was a mess. I am a safe driver and I felt so bad , until someone said if it had been me I would have done the same thing. It is instinct to try and avoid something that runs out in front of you just next time hit the dog. Funny but when my girls are in the car i always make myself keep going if they run at the car like that and yell for the girls to close their eyes. I guess anyone drives much more careful when they have precious cargo like my girls. I know I need to call my ex and tell him but with the way he has acted the past few weeks I just can't make myself make the call. I am just glad to be alive and that I have full coverage.

This brought tears to my eyes. I am soooo glad that you are okay. I use to always swerve, but have been trying harder lately not to, just slam on the breaks but keep going straight, because awhile back I heard about someone that wasn't as lucky as you. Also, a few miles down the road from me (rural road) someone swerved to miss something in the road and......went right through a house! (which a friend of mine lived in) My friend, thankfully, wasn't home or she would have been run over, it was a tiny house and totalled it along with most of her life's belongings. The woman in the vehicle was okay, but for some reason, I don't think her insurance covered my friend's house. Those two really did it for me! I have hit two little critters now, and I cried for awhile(hearing that 'thump" is horrible), but I and my car were safe. I am glad God and His angels were watching over you and listening to you, because they obviously were. I hope you heal fast, your physical boo boo's and your nerves, and you can get another car soon without any trouble. Your girls weren't with you, so I wouldn't worry about your ex. Worry about you right now, healing and defrazzling. Thank you for writing this blog and sharing your story. It must have shaken you up all over to have to relive it as you tell it. But I am sure you must have helped someone else today that is reading this blog, and may have even saved someone else's life in the future. Also for sharing the importance of wearing a seatbelt. That is so very, very important. One saved my life, kept me from flying out a car door. God bless you with a speedy recovery!
