I was given up for adoption at birth and nearly 3 years ago was found by my birth family. I have 5 new sisters and 2 new brothers in my birth family who learned of me in 1996. My birth mother never wanted me to be found while she was alive. She passed away in 2001. The sibs started looking for me immediately and found me Jan 24, 2005. The sibs are scattered all over ( Cleveland, Chicago, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Sacramento ). My adopted family is scattered too, ( Detroit, Orlando, Chicago, Charlotte, & Ocala ) As much as I enjoy both of these families, it does put a strain on where to travel and who to see. Of course I've developed a life long bond with my adoptive family, but I feel I owe time to my birth family because of what we missed over the years.
Be careful what you wish for. I love the situation, but time waits for no one, and spending time with everyone is becoming more and more a challenge that I will have to deal with.

I think that is wonderful that your birth family found you.I found my Birth daughter 8 years ago,for that I am ever so greatful to have her in my life.We have a beautiful relationship.
Why not have a huge family get together where all can meet each other.Would cut down on worrying about how and when to visit.I think it would be wonderful if all could meet and become ONE family. It could be a wonderful tradition to start..

Congratulations. Would that couple in the UK had learned of their DNA prior to getting married! Their wedding was annulled this week.

although it might be a challenge to see all of your family... its truly awesome that you are still able to visit with all of your siblings before its too late....

Congratulations on being found by your birth family I can only imagine what it would be like to wonder about them and never know. It may be hard to choose who and when to visit but it sounds like you have plenty of places to go when you want to travel.

congratulations. I was adopted when I was 1 month old. I rarely think about it until I see something about adoption on TV or something. my birth mom said she doesn't want to meet me, wants to put the past behind her. what is it like to meet your birth family? can you see the resemblance in their faces?
