From as far back as I can remember.. I have had a fear of Newspapers.... yes you read it right... Newspapers! I hate the look of them.. even the smell of them.
My parents just dont know what started it or even when.
A fluttering lose page of a newspaper in a street will make my heart race as I fear it may wrap itself around my ankle.
I dont buy them.. read them.. and if my father has one.. he has to have it in his room away from me!!
I told my B/F early on in the relationship about my phobia.. and after the eyes have lowered from the surprised look  .. I was happy that I'd got it off my chest early on in the relationship.
Some people I've heard of, rarely discuss thier phobia.. others, like me, feel it's better to have it out in the open.
Ive heard of a few people actually terrified of clowns!!

i have an extreme fear of roaches....and height and total darkness...any one of them will freak me out...
phobias aren't funny, and they're often a painful part of us.

My daughter has a fear of plants.. She won’t touch them, even fake ones.. She will hold a flower if it doesn’t touch any other part of her… Even as a baby.. She wouldn’t even touch the grass.. If it touched her, she would start to cry…

Snakes, spiders, rats, anything with wings and port-a-pots.. My youngest son is portapotaphobic too.. Actually he can't go anywhere but at home (or a relatives house)..

Something probably happened to you as a child.....maybe your parents didn't know about it....could have been something as simple as a piece of newspaper covered your face and scared you. Left a huge impression. I'm terrified of rats.......the sight of one makes me stop in a dead panic....almost fainted before. Claustrophobic too. I have a rat story, but only if you want to hear it.

A friend of mine....a GI Joe type......spent alot of time overseas in different developing countries. One night he was with a few other guys in a Caribbean country and they were out at night doing something...patrols maybe....anyways.....he said through the darkness he saw water....like waves......undulating a few yards in front of them. He shown a flashlight on it and it wasn't water but hundreds...thousands probably....of rats feeding on animal carcasses. They doused them with gasoline and set it on fire.....LOL....one of the things he and I have in common and joke about is our fear of rats. Thank gosh they didn't get too close....they could have overpowered them....rats do attack.

As for when my phobia began.......I think I saw one as a child at my uncle's farm....around four years of age.

Its true.. you dont see many people getting a phobia later in life.. its always from a child. Its whether you can actually remember the exact point. I dont.. not at all.

A gal at work has a fear of birds. A wild bird, sparrow I think, entered the work area and the gal became hysterical to the point where she was nearly sent home.
She has no idea as to the reason why she fears them so.

I don't really like newpapers either. Something in the ink makes me itch. I used to stuff them for my mom's paper route. It was awful.
I was actually diagnosed with agoraphobia. This came as kind of a surprise to me because I love to talk to people, just don't like a lot of people in public places I guess.
