Now I am sure you are saying to yourself that this is not a fair fight. I agree with you, it is not, but I am going to compare them anyway. Now these comparisons are only my opinions. Please do not mistake them for actual quotes or facts. I will also do some paraphrasing so please no yelling at me if you think I am incorrectly quoting someone. With this in mind, let the comparisons begin.
First off we have MLK. This was a great man no question about it. The leader of the civil rights movement, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Montgomery Bus Boycott, Nobel Peace Prize are just a few of His great acts. But these were just great acts and great acts alone do not make for a great man. What I think truely makes this a great man was His courage, conviction, heart and devotion. I can't imagine how dangerous it was to be Him yet it did not stop Him from doing what He did. He never relied on polls to see if He was doing the right thing. He knew what was right in His heart and just did it. Didn't care what others thought about it, didn't care how dangerous it was and persued it whole heartily until He got it. If He were alive today I am sure He would be proud at how far America has come.
Now we have todays Presidential Candidates. In my opinion not one of them is great. So in no particular order I will mention somethings about some of the candidates.
John Edwards - Won millions of dollars suing companies with malpractice lawsuits. Now He runs for president saying He wants to end poverty. He owns a mansion and is worth millions. I have to wonder how many poverty stricken people He has driven past from His mansion to His private jet inside a limousine? Here is a thought. Take some of those millions you have and take care of those poverty people you claim to care so much about.
John McCain - Vietnam Vet and POW. Thank you John. But then as senator voted against the Bush tax cuts. Twice. Then in 05 votes to extend it and now wants to make them permanant. Huh? Sounds like His finger is in the air.
Hillary Clinton - US Senator and Former First Lady. Voted for the Iraq War. Took credit for the vote when Saddam was captured and said the war was going great. Then when the war is becoming not so popular all She does is bad mouth the President. Huh? Sounds like Her finger is in the air. Want more? Look what happened in one of the Democrats debates when She said She was both for and against drivers license for illegal immigrants in the same debate. Huh? Maybe She had 2 fingers in the air that night.
Mitt Romney - Successful business man and Governor. As Governor of a Liberal state stated He was for abortions. Now as He runs for President on the Republican side, He is anti Abortion. Huh? Another finger in the air or just convenant?
I know this is not all the candidates but they are all just alike. Instead of boring you will all the candidates and how many fingers they have in the air I will just leave you with this. You can combine all the candidates together and still get nowhere near the greatness of MLK. That is a shame because He should be the roll model of all of them. They all lack the courage, conviction, heart and devotion that MLK had and that is why He was great and they are not.
