The stats are out and the total number of abortions for the year 2007 was 1.2 million. That is correct, 1.2 MILLION. The stats also show that 1 of every five women who became pregnant in 2007 had an abortion. That is 20% of all pregnancies end up being aborted.
Now even though I am anti abortion, I believe abortion is the choice of the individual involved. The person has to live with that decision for the rest of her life. What ever your views on abortion are, this blog is not about pro choice vs pro life.
The reason for this blog is to point out just how irresponsible society has become when it comes to sex. Now I do not know the numbers, but I am quite sure that a good percentage of these abortions resulted in either rape or incest. You can not blame the woman for that, that is just horrible. But I am quite certain that most of these abortions were for unwanted pregnancies. And if that is the case, this shows just how irresponsible we really are when it comes to sex.
Even as adults we can be irresponsible, especially when it comes to sex. People who are not planning to have children should really consider not having sex. But since we are human and sex is a big part of being human, a lot of people really want to have sex. So if you want to have sex but not the gift that comes 9 months later, might I suggest protection or something to prevent that gift? These are just my opnions and not a lecture.
One more thing, these numbers are just for abortions and do not include adoptions, or even worse, leaving a baby in a garbage can or something like that.
So all of you who plan to get lucky, might I suggest a trip to the local pharmacy? Some of you sooner then others. These are just my thoughts so don't beat me up, ok?

I don't know the stats or know if the one's you posted are true, but I will agree that abortion is NOT birth control. I would say that abortions due to rape/incest are minimal and most are performed for unwanted pregnancies. A woman has the right to choose.....but when abortion is used to rectify irresponsibility, it is wrong.
Why is celibacy, outside of marriage and/or a committed relationship, a dirty word?

I agree! I wonder what the age range for all these abortions is? More teens than women in their 30's or 40's? When it comes to teens, I think parents should take responsibility and don't blind themselves with the thought "that my child isn't doing that" .... kids are!!
I do think also that it's a personal decision to abort.... I mean, look around at the children being killed and molested by abusive parents... and how many kids are left on door steps or thrown off bridges.... how many kids are in foster care... how many of those being aborted would end up with the same fate??

it is time for us to all be more responsible for our own actions. We know what causes pregnancies and what to do to prevent them, abortion isn't birth control...
