We are in the beginning stages of planning the 2nd Annual MD Camping Trip, and I am amazed once again, by the lack of interest from men. 
I just don't get it. I see so many posts from so many men, saying that women are afraid to meet, yet when they are given such a great opportunity to meet so many women, they don't respond.
This is going to be the most fun a lot of us have had in a long time. Even if there aren't any "matches" made, there will be lifelong friendships made.
FYI, EVERYONE from last years camp out is either coming, (4 out of 6) or doing their best to come. (must have been fun huh?)
There are also couples, and parts of couples coming. So everyone is welcome to come and enjoy them selves.
Is it a REALLY CHEAP week end of fun. The MOST anyone is paying is $45.00, and that is the couples wishing to have a cabin by themselves. This INCLUDES food! Trust me, there will be some GOOD eating. Ask anyone that went last year.
We will be staying at Sugar Valley It is about a mile from Turkey Run State ParkWhich is a wonderful place to visit. Tons of history, and beautiful sites, and activities. (although last year, we rarely left the campsite, we were all enjoying each others company too much!)

Whether I attend or not depends on other factors -
not fear of meeting women I've never seen before.
I've met over 80 women at various gatherings and
one-on-one meetings and I've enjoyed all but one
of those meetings.

Yes people are afraid to meet, I use to help put picnics togeather for a dateline and the men would walk around the park instead of joining in. They were afraid to say who they were for fear of rejection. Men do not get it sometimes that we don,t judge the same way they do.
Women wanna have fun, And if men would learn to hang with women they would learn thats the best way to find one. None of my single men friends are single anymore. We fixed them all up LOL.

I think JOeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee summed it up as to why lots of men don't go to meets. First they don't like the competition of other men and second, it's hard to get the ladies off to the side, so they can get a little "no commitment" sex.
But guys and gals, if your serious about finding a life mate or even someone to commit to for long term, or a group of fun people to take mini vacations with, meets are the best and safest way to start a relationship/friendship. Go have fun, the ones that don't show up, miss a great time.

Hm, then I suppose that the men that DO show are ultimately keepers. Not necessarily into only sexual gratification, not too shy, not too poor to pay to go, not too strapped to their jobs they can't take off, aren't loaded up with other responsibilities.
Wooo, sounds like any man there will be supah! The ladies perhaps should keep that in mind. I know it is costly for people with pets to go because they need to get someone to take care of the pets. That can really get up there moneywise, depending on the pets. Then they have to be ABLE to take off from work, if they actually do have a job, you know. If they are self employeed, they have to often completely stop making money to go out of town. No vacation pay, most likely.
Some men are taking care of family as well. That would be hard to find a stand in for that or it could be costly to take them all with them. Then there is the fact that many men never read blogs nor do they hang out in the forums.
So, I do not think it is always because they are afraid. Jus my 2 cents worth!

Spirit...I agree about the men that go to these gatherings being keepers. There are so many couples who have met at gatherings that I can't begin to name them all. That's not to mention the awesome friends I have made through MD events.
I'm really excited to be going on this trip and I'm waaaay over on the west coast.

I plan on being there...probably the only female "NOT LOOKING"....just wanna have fun, drink a few beers...is that allowed???....join cookie in karaoke...but not cookin'...I'll do the dishes...cleanup detail..that's my thing, not cooking.
Hopefully by then I'll be 30lbs lighter...MD camping should be about at the end of this community weight loss challenge...hopefully I'll have wrestled this cigarette demon to the ground once and for all. I did quit for 3 weeks awhile back but had a brief stupid moment and started again. Now I try once more...48hrs. and counting.
Yes...we need MORE MEN there...although I'm not looking, I sure like to do belly rubbin' dancin and trust me....doin' that with another lady just ain't my bag...! So all you men..come on down!

I'm not going on the camping trip in hopes of matching up with someone. I'm going to meet all these wonderful people, male and female, that I've met here in the forums at MD. And I'm doing this for myself because most vacations I take are to visit family. This one is just for me! And I'm coming up all the way from Texas!
