For a long time, I considered voting for Hillary Clinton, because I wanted to be part of the movement to put a woman into the White House. It was, really, the same reason that prompted me at first to consider voting for Rudy Giuliani. I wanted to be part of the movement to put the first Italian in the White House.
But I can't vote for her. She's been noted for being anti-Italian, and I'm sorry, but I have to stand up for my blood, and cast her to the wayside. I will not condone someone who attacks my family indirectly, and who attacks my people. It is not right, and even worse, these attacks go unpunished. I mean, can you believe that? In this society, where one can not attack African Americans, Hispanic Americans, homosexual Americans, or Arab Americans without having their lives ruined, they can attack Italian Americans and not even hear about it from the press the next day? Give me a god damned break.
My family and other Italian Americans BUILT this country. We came over here because the Anglo-Saxons (and I AM half Anglo-Saxon, so you know I have no problem with Anglo-Saxon, I am just pointing this out as historical fact) needed worker bees. We came over here to work in factories, to construct infrastructure, to fight in wars, and basically to stimulate the economy. This is a great country because WE built it, and have we gotten any thanks, ever? No. All we have ever gotten is mockery, ridicule, criticism, and fear because of a few bad Sicilian organised crime groups. Guess what? Every ethnicity has its bad apples. I am sick and tired of turning on the television and seeing images of pizza-eating, greasy haired, foul mouthed, poor Italian people with little to no education, and having these stereotypes go without complaining by people like Al Sharpton or CAIR that black and Arab groups have. We have groups, but they are given virtually NO representation, and they have no credibility in society and are NOT listened to.
It was said in the Godfather II that Italians (by a non-Italian character) are the salt of the earth and the backbone of this country. And you know what? It's true. It is true, and I am not ashamed to admit it. I am not ashamed or afraid of the potential backlash from friends or strangers because they are angry or offended by my remarks.
It is not the Italian Americans (of course there are exceptions, I was hoping this would be inferred, though) that are a bunch of welfare recipient bums, living off the backs of the taxpayers of this country and living off the government because we are too lazy to get a job. We have always been hardworking, patriotic, family-oriented people and it was us who when we came to this country, along with the Irish and the Asians, (legally, may I add!!!), not only broke our backs to succeed, but learned the language and assimilated right away. I do not see this with today's immigrants, and it pisses me off. My great grandparents came from the north and central regions of Italy for a better life, they worked hard, and they learned English. They weren't involved in the mafia, they weren't greasy-haired uneducated fools....they were good people.
Hillary Clinton, if this is true, is a shame to the American people and does not deserve to lead this nation, which includes the Italian Americans that she hates so much. Shame on her.

"Blood?" "Anglo-Saxon?" Excuse me, a large part of the population of England / Britain was Roman / Italian before they even got on the Mayflower... 500 years of Roman rule and settlement, remember? Along with Roman law, Roman politics and Roman culture. The Romans also controlled and settled the whole of Western Europe. Spanish, French and Portugese are their descendants. All the way to America.
Britain has always been part Latin part Celtic part "Anglo." (Anglo-Celtic). There was never such a thing as an "Anglo-Saxon" Britain... or British "blood"...
So when did the idea of "blood" arrive in America? With the Sicilians?

Politicians are just a bunch of wind bags that will say anything they think you want to hear, so pick your flavor.

6andahalf...people like you...I can't believe your comment. We more than likely had 911 cause of the 8 years old Bill was under his desk rather than AT his desk doing his job. Maybe you need to go online and research all the attacks on Americans during his eight years in office.

no wonder people like you have a hoses pituty like george w in the white house. I wasn't old enough to vote for George W. Bush, and would never have if given the chance to. So don't say people like me. I'm in no way a Republican. I just will not stand for these kinds of stereotypes anymore; I'm tired of it and I think it's garbage...especially since we get no representation to call the media out on it.
I think Asians should stand up for themselves as well, they probably have it worse than we do.

I just will not stand for these kinds of stereotypes anymore Don't get too outspoken there Broncette....speaking of stereotypes, remember, liberals are supposed to be wimps and you don't want to hurt the feelings of some macho right-winger....after all image is all they have to cling to.

You really should vote for Hillary, LGQ. Then, after she serves eight years, Chelsea would be pretty close to that 35 year old range and could run also.
Dynasty.

The backbone of this country? Italians? Renae, pass me whatever you're smoking over there... so I can destroy it and not let it cripple anyone else.
The backbone of this country has been the hardworking American regardless of what ethnic background they have. We all can claim different aspects of the piece of pie that makes this country better.
Personally I'm voting for Obama, because he's the only candidate that is actually being as close to "truthful" as a politician can get.
If you're going to vote or NOT vote for Hilary, use your judgment based on her being able to lead the country and her opinions and goals that'll improve your life in the long run.
If I were supporting Hillary, but she trashed my ethnic backgrounds (not a typo, I'm mixed) I'd still vote for her if her campaign supported whatever I agreed with.
Oh and for the love of God... this goes to anyone reading this. Don't vote for Hilary because it's a "step in the right direction for women" ... that'll corrupt the whitehouse ... vote for someone that's going to run this country efficiently.
