Since the only two people who commented (so far) didn't get what I meant by my saying that people who don't do the research either don't want the answer or don't deserve it, here is another clue as to what was meant by it.

This is a partial quote from an email a friend sent me. No idea who the original author is.

I asked God to take away my habit. God said, No. It is not for me to take away but for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. God said, No. His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No. Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is learned.

I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No. I give you blessings; happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain. God said, No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, No. You must grow on your own but I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, No. I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.

I asked God to help me love others, as much as He loves me. God said...Ahhh, finally you have the idea.

In the same way, it is not for me to do the research for you or for God to hand you the answers. Remember the saying is SEEK and ye shall find. Not WHINE and it will be handed to you.

Imagine for a moment that it is your privilege to have a brief interview with God, in the course of which you are allowed to ask one question. What would you ask? You would have to think this over very carefully, because this golden opportunity would come to you only once, and you would have to be most careful not to ask a silly question. You might try God out with a Zen Buddhist koan such as "Beyond the positive and the negative, what is reality?" The Lord would turn to you and say, "My dear child, your question has no meaning." And you would not have the opportunity to think up a meaningful response.

Perhaps you should have asked, "What question should I ask?" And the Lord would say to you, "Why do you want to have a question?" You want one because you would feel that something was wrong if you didn't have one. But you have got a question: the insoluble problem of trying to win without losing, and as long as you have that problem you will be kept busy, until you see that it is meaningless because it cannot be solved.

Thank you for your comment, lovely Miss Choos

Imagine for a moment that it is your privilege to have a brief interview with God, in the course of which you are allowed to ask one question.

Moses asked a question, pretty much straight off and God answered it.

Abraham asked God questions, and he answered them.

Much later on, a man asked Jesus a question and he answered it. He asked him what he must do to be saved.

So .. hmm... I think it behooves us to ask about that which we do not understand. Not just to have a question, though, and certainly not to feel smug over having received the answer. But, because that's the purpose of being granted an interview with God in the first place, is to build our understanding ... and I'm granted those brief interviews all the time, if that's what you wish to call them. lol They are called prayers. I asked him, over the years, about sex, sexuality, abortions, suicide, hell, how to be a new personality but the same person, who really is the true faith, and etc. He didn't lay it all out for me, the answers, but I got them, eventually .. when I chose to listen and learn. It's not like an instant download of knowledge, not usually, but that is all to the good as I often ignore instant downloads anyway.

It's the stuff I really have to search for knowledge of that stick with me and are most rewarding to know.

SEEK and ye shall find

Sometimes in my life things seem to stop and I wonder what's happening...how can you notice such a change happening and then it's like a wall comes up and stops everything? We get comfortable and think everything will move along on it's own and we quit seeking. We should always keep seeking to find the right things in life for ourselves.

This just happened to me minutes ago while getting ready to go out for the day before reading your blog.

Thanks for the encouraging words.

Humour:

Priest asks: "If you could ask one question of God what would it be?"
Engineer replies: "How did you create all this and make it work?"

Short pause and the voice of God replies

"Ahhhh, that is for me to know and you to find out"

Seek and ye shall find
