I've come to notice something very, very sad about this website.
In life, it's just a fact that you will attract more flies with honey than you will with vinegar. If you are nice to people, they will like you and want to be around you.
On MD, you will attract more flies with vinegar than you will with honey. Write a few nasty, angry blogs, and you will be the biggest deal on the website. Now, this is not always true, but it's a general trend.
It's true with me, too. I write some pissy blogs about whatever I'm freaking pissed off about that day, and everybody reads it and comments on it. I write something that frankly I think is heart-wrenching and inspiring, and it's like it's not touched. Why is this? My writing ability does not change when I write "nice" blogs, but it's interesting how no one's interested.
I can't say I won't come here anymore, because the truth is, I will. Every time I've thought about canceling my account, I've backed out because quite honestly, I like some of the people on this site too much.
But if I don't blog as much anymore, don't be surprised. I'll simply take them to MySpace, where I feel like my real life friends and some of my true friends from MD don't feel the need to constantly revel in drama.
People here get so caught up in blog wars--- and I sometimes wonder why. I've had my fair share of problems with people here, and yes, oftentimes the problems have inspired me to write blogs - but not about the people I have had the problems with. More like, I wrote about the issue that caused the problem. I guess I just don't see the virtue in fighting over the internet with people you don't know. I've always felt that a good fight is to be saved for your closest friends, lovers, and family anyway. Arguing with people through a computer screen is a waste of time....it has nothing to do with honour (yes, I've heard this) and it just makes you look like a child. I swear, it's thirteen year olds on Yahoo Answers that do this; I see them do it all the time. You're adults and should know by now that sniping at each other and spreading rumours like this exacerbates a problem; it doesn't solve it.
I'd like to note that one of my friends on MD, who's on my MySpace...this blog has nothing to do with her. Her blog was inspiring, not negative.

I was thinking about blogging. Now not so sure. Sounds like you been here a long time. I just started and I don't see how this encourages me to stay.

Tolkien said it first.
"Now, it is a strange thing, but things that are good to have and days that are good to spend are soon told about, and not much to listen to; while things that are uncomfortable, palpitating, and even gruesome, may make a good tale, and take a deal of telling anyway."
J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit"

People are attracted to what they can relate to. So what does that say about our society in general?

People love to point fingers because it keeps them too busy to look at themselves. They use other people as an excuse to indulge in behaviors just as bad, sometimes even worse, yet fail to see the hypocrisy.
Such stupidity is actually very frightening.

On MD, you will attract more flies with vinegar than you will with honey. It's not venegar. It's s***, and yes, it is quite possible to attract more flies with s*** than with honey.

So that = Blog Flies! Well, if that's the case, MD needs a really big can of Raid.
