Half of the women on this site are going to hate me after I write this blog, but I really don't care because if you're my friends, you won't.

I used to love American Idol, because I looked at it as your typical "rags-to-riches" thing. It was like giving the average, run-of-the mill American a chance at stardom. But I began to realise....American Idol is crap. That's right...it's plain crap.

What American Idol does is turn away some of the greatest talent there is because the judges and producers presume to know what America wants. What you don't know about American Idol is that those huge crowds you see that supposedly go in to see the judges...they aren't seeing the judges. They are auditioning for the producers, who approve a select few to later audition in front of the judges. What they do is weed out ugly people who are bad for us to laugh at, and a select few very good looking people who are talented who they know will make it through.

I am frankly quite tired of the same few manufactured beauty queens (and yano, the 2 token fat black chicks) that get through every year, and the same old manufactured male beauty queens (and yano, the 1 rock guy that they let through so they can try to re-create Daughtry). They are so trying to re-create Carrie Underwood, and it's just sad at this point. Not only can I not stand country music, but it's sad because they don't make room for ANYTHING different. They are looking for ONE thing, and ONE thing only: pop music.

And god, does Simon have to put everyone down for sounding "old fashioned"? Why is that a bad thing? Does everyone need to sound like the manufactured bullshit that gets put out today, that these slinky, brain-dead sex symbols who f*** up their lives because they have no talent don't even write because they're not there to be creative or to be talented, they're there to sell their bodies?

I bet you that if these people auditioned today:

John Lennon
Janis Joplin
Jimi Hendrix
Mick Jagger
George Harrison
Paul McCartney
Alanis Morrisette
Mama Cass
Kurt Cobain

they would not get through because all three judges would find fault with something about them....and that's what is so sad. These people changed the face of music.

If they had to rely on American Idol....

We would've missed out on them.

What happened to the days where people had to work their way up through actual hard work to make it in the music business instead of using a television show where they will probably just get laughed at and scrutinised because of something as trivial as a nasaly voice or their appearance?

Pisses me off, I'll tell ya.
