Romance comes from the heart -- not from your wallet. I can not emphasize that enough. Many men (and some women too) have the notion that the more expensive the gift, the more they are expressing their love. If you believe that then the advertising agencies have done their jobs. Valentine's is upon us. Can you celebrate it without spending a load of money?? You betcha -- I even have a newsletter that shows you hundreds of ways of doing so all throughout the year. Here's this week's tip that was submitted to me by e-mail from an unnamed reader and although i am not married i do plan to use this tip on my girlfriend april. Have a romantic week……….. S.R.
RECIPE FOR ROMANCE This takes a little bit of work, but it's worth it. I went to an antique store and bought an old wooden recipe card box. I took a wood burner and on top of it burned my wife's name and some flowers. Then on the front I wood-burned "Today I love you because." The first card in the box talked about the age and beauty of the wood, like our marriage. And it promised there were far more reasons I love her than this box could ever hold. Every day since that day (several months ago) I have made a 4x6 card that started with the words, "Today I love you because." Some reasons are funny, some are serious. Some reflect my mood for the day. Before I leave the house every morning, I leave a card somewhere I know she will find it. Like in the refrigerator, in her car or purse, or hidden in the morning paper. But this exercise has two very wonderful benefits: 1. It forces me to think hard about why I really do love my wife today. Any person who spends this much time thinking about why they loves their mate will surely start treating them like the treasure they are. 2. It may take a long time, but by golly, she's eventually going to believe you. Just hang in there. Submitted by anonymous.
