Last night, around 9pm, there was a knock at the door. Unusual, because we live way out in the countryside and we get very few visitors.
After trying to peer around the curtains to see who was there, the knock came again.. but harder.
Being braver than my Dad, who said..Don't open it!"...I unlocked the door to find a man standing there.... In his arms was a 3 month old chocolate labrador puppy.
He explained that he had found the puppy wandering the street outside of the supermarket where he worked. He went on to say that he had looked for anyone who may have appeared to be with the young pup, but by the end of the day, everyone was gone home, the street was quiet, and the pup was quite alone.
He said he knew that I was a dog lover, and as the dog pound was closed, he thought that I would be the best place to take the little vagabond.
After a huge sigh from me..and a "Oh no not another dog!" from my Dad, I agreed to take him in, but only until Monday. Then I will either take him to the pound, or place an ad "Puppy found"
For the rest of yesterday evening, and all today, our new house guest has followed me everywhere. I have tried to stay 'unattached'... but its proving to be very hard!
He has the most amazing blue eyes and his coat is thick and a lovely chocolate colour. He's played with the others in the grounds of the villa, introduced himself to the next door neighbours chickens, and has leant his lesson in trying to get an old dog like Charliegirl to play!... She tolerated him for just a few minites, then with a loud woof!... sent the pup rolling and ended up sitting with his head on one side,..as if to say....."Sheesh! whats up with you?"
I couldnt keep calling him Pup, so I'm still deciding on a name .....anyone with a comment on a name will be great!
So yes.. its official.. I have the reputation of being either a dog lover (or a soft touch!)

Awwww...poor baby. Thank goodness, though, that the man cared enough to bring him to you!
I think if you have to name him (& probably keep him ) that "Vagabond" or "Tramp" would be a good name!

A reputation for a kind heart is something NOT to regret.
A man could do a lot worse than to look for such a woman.

Personally I name my pets after TV or movie characters. Of course I watch some weird crap! So the vet usually has to ask "How do you spell that?" But at least I know I have original names for my pets that not many others would think of. At least Kosh and Teesa seem to like their names.
Good Luck Picking a Name!!

Nice story, but if he was the only puppy around? I would most likely name him, Lonesome. But either way, congrad's on the new member of the household.

and people wonder why I refuse to deal with people who aren't pet lovers.... because we who have pets, "We truly know committment" (ok, people with kids do too, lol)

Yes.. but theres a diffrence.. people love thier kids.. because they are born to them.. thay already had a bond before they were born that will never die.. well for the most anyway..and in the end.. the children grow and leave..
Dogs are needing your love, and give you it back 10 times over..they need our care and our compassion. for all thier lives... they have no one else.
