I wish I could be a resident of Berkely, California.
It would be nice to be so oblivious to the history of my country and the plight of other nations that I could eat my tofu hotdogs and organic apple pie while spitting in the face of thousands of men who fought and died for my right to do so.
I could assert my opinion without worrying my family would be imprisoned or that I would be tortured and killed for doing so. Could it be Marines that made this freedom possible? I'm going to focus on my major in Interpretive Dance and pretend I don't know the answer to that one. I've got a minor in Basket Weaving, so I'm all set for a realistic future.
I might burn a flag or protest a military funeral for a man who died before his children were even born. The man volunteered, so I guess he got what was coming to him.
Oh, what fun it would be to live in Berkely, California!! I'm not sure who I might call if Islamic fundamentalists crashed planes into my hemp fields or tried to invade my college campus. Yes, it's the first place the enemy would come...since we kicked out all of the Marines and told them how much we resented their existence....but I think this crystal pyramid I use to focus my thoughts will protect me in that event.
Peace, dudes!! I don't even care that I'd be speaking German right now if it weren't for U.S. Marines!!! My Jewish friends don't look Jewish...and besides, the Swastika doesn't give me a bad acid trip like all those stars and stripes.

You hit it on the head. It would be nice to be little rich brats that whine and cry and always feel safe to do it. Im just glad they hate the military. The military doesnt need blatant cowards in there getting good men killed because they wont obey orders. the parents of the hippies at Berkley SSHOULD be ashamed of their kids and the way they are acting, but they wont be...they are just like their parents. "Bravely" standing on their rights, whining and crying about the soldiers, sailors and marines, spitting in their faces, protesting funerals, and too stupid to understand that they, the military, are the ones keeping thier, the hippie pukes, rights to be ignorant and vile. I can just hope that on their death bed tthat hippie is truley ashamed of him or herself. Hippies are a disghusting blotch on our society. thanks for writing this blog Irish.

You got it! Does anyone ever really graduate from Berkeley? I know a lot of professionals, plenty of educators and I truly do not know of any that have an actual degree from Berkeley. I know there must be classses going on, I mean these little twerps didn't get their heads full of mush from some hideous activity like WORK or CHURCH. I know professors from NYU, OU, USC, many, many halls of higher education, but never from Berkeley. I think these kids just "go" to Berkeley, I don't believe they go to school at Berkeley. As far as I'm concerned they all can go take a long walk off a short pier.
It will come back to haunt them. The only thing is our Marines would still be there first if called. Damn that sense of honor and duty those men and women have.

It seems not EVERYONE in Berkeley fits your discription. As a matter of fact I believe there are more counter protesters at the moment then 'pink' ones. I get tired of ALL californians being lumped together into one big liberal pack.
