Want to start a heated discussion? There are some topics that instantly come to mind that always seem to turn heated when discussed. Politics is definitely one. Abortion, another one. Even Sports. But the one topic that seems to bring out the most heated discussion is God/Religion. What is it about God that makes non believers so passionate in denouncing Him? What did God ever do to these people to make them hate him so much?
God loves everyone. Some believers in God will tell you that God hates certain people(homosexuals, sinners, etc.). But that is not true. No where in the bible does it say that God hates people. God loves everyone. It is the act of sin that God hates. And since we all sin, we all do things that God hates. But does that mean God hates us because we sin? No! If you perform homosexual acts which God considers a sin, is that any more of a sin then lying which God also says is a sin? No!
Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned---
The bible tells us that Jesus died for our sins. But only if we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and ask for forgiveness for our sins will we be forgiven. The point is that all people sin and all sins are punishable. All sins are also forgiveable except one.
Mathews 12:31-32 "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blashemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
Does this mean that we can keep a heart full of sin knowing that afterwards God will forgive us if we ask for it? No! If I plan to kill someone and think God will forgive me later if only I ask for it, am I truly sorry for the act? God knows what is in our hearts and He knows who is truly sorry for the sin they did. And since we are humans, we are all sinners. What is the old saying? Christians are not perfect, just forgiven. But sinners can be forgiven too. They just have to want it and ask for it.
So if God hates sin but loves people, why do some believers in God who sin feel the need to tell non believers who sin that they are going to hell? That alone is a sin. Jesus tells us not to judge and that judging is a sin.
Mathew 7:1-2 Judge not, that you be judged not. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and the measure you use, it will be measured back at you.
This is what many nonbelievers use against believers. Some believers are called hypocrites because we sit in judgment of nonbelievers. Who are we to judge them? Jesus tells us to love everyone, including sinners and enemies. We believers have to let God do His job which is to judge us.
Believers who are hypocrites are probably the biggest single reason why nonbelievers hate God. I am sure there are other reasons, but us being hypocrites probably do God the most disservice then anything else. When a preacher on TV asks for millions of dollars from people while at the same time telling people how to live their lives, what do you think nonbelievers are going to think when that preacher is caught doing something he/she preached against? Hypocrite? A person who engages in homosexual acts does not want to hear from someone else that what that he/she is doing will cause that person to go to hell. All we need to say is that God does not want us to do that and it is up to the person engaging in homosexual acts to decide if he/she still wants to do it. No one wants to be browbeated, and when someone is browbeated they usually end up revolting. And when you revolt you usually end up hating what you are revolting against. So not only do people end up hating the browbeaters, they end up hating God as well.
Now we have come full circle. Many people hate God and they have their reasons why. But there is also those people who hate God that want to make others hate God as well. Just look at my other blogs and some of the comments by people who hate God or do not believe in Him. It seems my blogs attract a lot of the people who hate God or don't believe in Him. It is like they have to read about it. They are consumed with it. They have to let you know that you are wrong. The question though is why do they read my blogs when they know I will only say things they don't like? They know I love God and like to spread His word. And like clockwork, they have to read what I write and comment on how wrong I am. If you hate God, or don't believe in God, why is it important for you to tell others how you feel? Why not just go on with your life and leave God out of it? Many of these same people who hate God also blame God for the worlds troubles. They say how can God allow suffering? They say how can God allow diseases? They say how can God allow some people to do harm to other people? The answer is that God gives people freewill. That means all people have free will, not just believers. That is why people are not robots. The troubles in the world today are all man made and yet we have to blame something else for it.
To wrap this up, my meaning is that believers have to stop being holier than thou and judge the nonbelievers. This only drives nonbelievers to resentment and acts against God. Our job as believers is to set the example so that others might see and want to join us. And nonbelievers, why not just leave it at that and stop trying to convince other people that God is either a scam, or an ideology or anything else? If you hate God or don't believe in Him, why would you care what others think or believe? I think the one big difference between us is that I love the nonbelievers, but how many of the nonbelievers love me? God loves us all, believers and nonbelievers alike.

There was only one time when I felt I hated God, it was when my baby daughter died. I questioned why over and over, and ended up with the conclusion that God either didnt exist, or..he stood by and watched her die..
There really was only those two options.
I chose that he stood by and watched her die, and I hated him for it.

What did God ever do to these people to make them hate him so much? God didn't do any of it... it's his "followers" create the problems...

Our job as believers is to set the example so that others might see and want to join us. Perhaps many non believers are turned off by christianity and those who believe in it in part because believers like you like to label them as "god haters." So many believers just can't accept the fact that many of us who don't be believe don't hate you, your god, or anyone else. We just don't agree with you and what you believe. It's you believers who get so defensive about it. For the most part us non believers just go on about our lives, and would be just as willing to let you go on about your lives too...beliefs and all...if you believers would just stop continually trying to cram your beliefs down us non believers throats. It's you believers who aren't just satisfied with the fact that you have the right to believe. Many of you believers would insist we non believers see it your way, whether we want to or not. For the most part, us non believers aren't the problem. You believers are...

I guess it's bubble bursting time again.
Atheists don't hate god. Nor do they hate leprechauns, unicorns, or good Kevin Costner movies. Why? Because you have to believe something exists to hate it.
Only a believer can hate god.

ummmm no. I STARTED reading your blog until I realized it was the same worn out bullshit that you have written about, yet reworded, time and time and time again. I guess I can sum it up best by taking a point from somebody else that answered your blog. Nobody hates god, they hate the pushy, shove it down your throats, "oh poor me, everybody hates christians" people such as yourself. And yes, I said pushy, because you have brought up religion, the hate of religion, the hate of christians, the hate of god, so many times now, it is flat out pathetic. You are not going to recruit or turn anybody on to christianity by going about things the way you do. You are an intelligent person, I know this because we have debated before, and you do have a brain in your head. So, if you simply look at the number of responses on this latest reiteration of your previous pissing and moaning about how everybody hates religion and such, you would notice that the responses are FEW. They are few, because you have beat that horse to death, worn it out. There must be something else in your life that you can talk about other then a dwindling religion. Yes, dwindling. Each decade that passes, the number of people that attend church falls dramatically. Why? Because there aren't as many suckers out there as there used to be. People are better educated. They don't believe in fairytales and bullshit like they did years ago. Wake up, smell the coffee. I know it's nice to have something to believe in, and you have every right to do so, but stop pushing it down everybody elses' throat. And yes, you are, because you keep bringing up religion time and time again. It's people like you that push other people FARTHER away from the church, not bring them closer. And as far as me not having to read your blogs, you're right, but I was hoping you had something new to talk about, or even debate over, because you're a bright guy. Take this in the manner it is intended. I don't think you're a bad person, quite the opposite, I just think you're going about things the wrong way, and in the wrong place. Take care.
