Recently in Torrance, Ca., a city just south of Los Angeles, a family was out shopping for a new car. What a nice family moment. It is always exciting when a family goes shopping for a brand new car. This is one of those rare moments when everyone is excited about the same thing.
Imagine the joy this family was sharing. Spending time together. All with thoughts in their head about what car they hope they get. Imagine all the smiles on their faces, the glee in their talks and the love being shared.
The car they are in is driving along, getting them closer to their destination. This destination where all their joy is directed at. This car is like all the other cars on the road, just minding its own business. The family inside(except maybe the driver) doesn't have a care at this moment about what is outside the car. The world is at a stand still for all they are know.
Bang, Bang, Bang. This sound roars just outside their car. All of a sudden the smiles are gone, the joys are gone, fear takes over. Everyone inside the car ducks not knowing what is going on. After a few seconds, the family in the car starts checking out each other in the car. Is everyone ok?
Then the worst fears of the family come alive. A six year old is sitting in the seat with a seatbelt on, motionless. The six year old is shot in the head. All the joy that was in the car just seconds ago has now turned into panic, fear. All the fun talk has now turned into screaming and crying. The dream destination of the car dealership has now turned into a nightmare destination of a hospital. As of right now, this 6 year old is on a life support system.
6 Years old!!!! Why? What the heck is a 6 year old doing on a life support system? No matter how this turns out, the family will never be the same again. It is so sad that you want to cry. As sad as this story is, the part that makes this story the most gut wrenching is knowing this sort of thing happens all the time all over the country.
It turns out that 2 gangbangers in the Torrance area shot the guns that hit the 6 year old. This is so senseless that the why of it doesn't even matter. Does the why of it matter to the mother of that 6 year old who sees her child on a hospital bed with tubes and wires attached?
This is happening all over America. Look at the school shootings. Look at the mall shootings. Look at all the families getting slaughtered in their own homes. Just watch the local news any day of the year. This is becoming an epidemic.
Why is the value of life becoming extinct? Imagine 100 years ago, were things like this back then? I was not alive back then but I don't think life was anywhere near like this. So if in 100 years this is what our society has become, imagine what it will be like 100 years from now.
If we as a country do not try to stop this our future generations will all be living in combat zones, in our own country.
I do have a theory. This country was founded and God played a major part in the lives of most of the people here. Ever notice that the farther away this country gets from God, the less value people seem to put on life. And I am afraid it is only going to get worse. God help us!

Maybe it's because 100 years ago, in 1908, the population of the country was only 88,710,000 compared to over 303,000,000 today. Maybe a lot of this stuff did happen back then, even at the same rate, based on the 88 million population...an era, also, that did not have the same instant communications abilities as we have today.
Life in the old West was brutal and rugged, as was it in the Deep South, from what I've read.
