Image is everything. I remember hearing that catchphrase on a camera commercial starring Andre Agassi. I have not seen that commercial in years but that phrase has always remained intriquing to me.
Most people are so comsumed with what others think. You have to wonder how much time we spend buying things we hope others will be impressed by? Cars, clothes, jewelery, make up, electronics, among other things. Then we like to show off or brag to everyone who will listen or see our precious possessions. Take Matchdoctor for instance. I wonder how many blogs are written just to get the most kudos and wonderful comments? I think a lot of us need to hear others praising us. It makes us feel accepted or part of something.
I think a lot of us, not all of us but a lot, are so worried about what others think about us that we forget to do things that actually make us happy. Plenty of people write me and tell me that I need to wake up and join the rest of society and stop being a christian since most people do not believe as I do. I get told I am in the minority in my beliefs. But my beliefs are who I am. I will never stop believing, especially to counter how others feel about me. I love people no matter how you dress, how you look, what you own, etc. Images is not everything to me. And if you think I am crazy or a weirdo for my beliefs that is ok, I still love.
This is just my opinion, but I only get one life to live. I think it is better to do things that will make me happy and not so much worry about how others are going to take me. Maybe this is why I am still single, HAHA! But to me, I would rather make people happy by my acts rather then what I own.
